Reflective Essay

In the verse John 3:16-17, it says there that “For God so loved the
world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life”, “For God sent not his Son into
the world to condemn the world; but the world through him might be
saved.” As I am reading this verse, I can’t help but to feel both happiness
and sadness. Happiness as this verse that was written brought good news
for us, humans. That we can have an everlasting life with Jesus Christ in
heaven by saving us sinners. Sadness as I, myself, is also a sinner. Reflecting
on what I have done for God comparing to what I have done for myself and
all my sins. It is evident that I haven’t done much for God and for his grace.
Constantly forgetting to pray and thank him for every day. From the start of
the day, when eating and at the end of the day. Only talking to him when in
need, prioritizing my studies and my role in the house.
I realized that I have read and heard this verse many times in my life,
but in each time I cry for being a sinner. I do not deserve his love, grace and
blessings. I should be left out and suffer later on in hell but truly God is good,
despite all of the things I have and haven’t done for him, he still wanted to
save me. It is said in the verse that “For God sent not his Son into the world
to condemn the world; but the world through him might be saved” he
sacrificed his own son just to pay for our sins, and that is what we call the
unconditional love of God for his children just like in the prodigal son.
I can share the word of God to my sister and to my friend only because
unfortunately in our home, it is normal that each of us doesn’t speak and
talk about our personal problems either in school or even at home. And also,
I don’t have a very close relationship with my parents only with my sister
who happens to only have 1 year age gap. But I know, my mother know
these words of God as it is taught to them when she was in high school. I can
share the word of God to my sister from casual talking or sending in our
chats same to my friend. This is not related but, I don’t really have close
friends especially when lockdown and pandemic came in. I just felt that
there was an invincible gap between my friends before and now.
From now on, I’ll change little by little, excluding the word ‘try’. Try is
said when you are in the middle of yes and no but in favor with no. So, I’’
change my habits first, my priorities, and heal myself mentally with the help
of God ☺ .
