A Moment of Gratitude and Gathering: A meaningful Eid Al-Fitr experience

Muslim communities around the world prepare to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, or Eid, every
year as the month of Ramadan comes to an end. For me, Eid is more than just a holiday; it's
more about family and full of meaning. The experience of Eid al-Fitr always leaves deep
memories.
The atmosphere of the village begins to change when the sun sets on the evening of
Takbiran. Solemnity and excitement were palpable in the air, although the hustle and bustle
of preparatory activity could still be heard. Houses are decorated with colorful lights, adding
to the Eid atmosphere.
Every year, the first day of Eid begins with Eid prayers at the mosque. Together with
thousands of other Muslims, we feel a sense of solidarity and togetherness as Muslims after
fasting for a whole month. After the prayer, we said "Happy Eid Al-Fitr" and forgave each
other, establishing a close relationship.
After praying, we went to the houses of nearby people to wish them a happy Eid. This
is an eagerly awaited event where we gather to share stories, laugh and enjoy delicious Eid
dishes served in abundance.
Equally important is spending time with family at home. We spent a lot of fun
together here. Spending time together sharing stories, laughing, and enjoying delicious food
made by mother will be an unforgettable memory.
Eid al-Fitr also gives us the opportunity to share with those who are less fortunate. To
help those who are less fortunate, we provide basic food and Eid food packages. Sharing
happiness with others creates a deep sense of gratitude.
As night falls, the sound of fireworks and burning torches brings life to the city. This
festive night of takbiran marks the end of a series of important events to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
I see Eid al-Fitr as more than just enjoying delicious food and angpau; it is more about
celebrating victory over oneself in fasting, strengthening relationships, and spreading
happiness to others. That's what makes my experience with Eid al-Fitr every year so
significant for me.
