Session Title: Celebrating Ourselves: Nurturing Positive Self-esteem and Body Image
Session Objective: At the end of the session, earners will be able to:
▪ Understand the factors influencing self-esteem and body image
▪ Practice self-affirmation through guided activity
▪ Promoting self-love and acceptance
Key Concepts: ▪ Self-esteem: Recognizing the importance of self-worth and confidence.
▪ Body Image: Understanding how perception of one’s body are
influenced.
▪ Positive Affirmation: Promoting self-love and acceptance

III. TEACHING STRATEGIES

Introduction and
Warm-Up 5 minutes Ice breaker:
“Compliment Circle”
Students will stand in a circle,
taking turns giving and receiving
compliments. Encourage positive
and specific compliments.

Concept Exploration
20 minutes Mini – Lecture:
Provide information o the factors
influencing self-esteem and body
image, including societal standards
and media influence
Group Activity:
Break students into small groups to
discuss personal experiences and
societal pressures related to self-
esteem and body image
Valuing Guided Affirmation Exercise:
20 minutes Lead students through a guided
self-affirmation activity. Provide
prompts for positive affirmations
related to both – self esteem and
body image.
Group sharing:
Encourage students to share their
affirmations within their small
groups, fostering a supportive
environment.
Journal Writing Journal prompt:
15 minutes Reflect on the guided affirmation
exercise. How can practicing self -
affirmations contribute to better
self-esteem and a more positive
body image?
Allow students time to write and
share their reflection if they feel
comfortable.
Additional Notes Emphasize that positive self-esteem
and body image are personal and
can differ among individuals.
Foster an atmosphere of respect and
understanding during group
discussions
Provide additional resources for
students who may want to explore
this topic further.
