Operating Systems For Emerging Technologiess
Operating Systems For Emerging Technologiess
1. Introduction:
Operating systems (OS) is an interface between computer hardware and people using it. As we know technology is
evolving day by day, so do the demands placed on operating systems. In this study, we have investigated the
emerging trends in OS design and their implications for modern computing systems.
2. Methods:
* Hardware Environments:
We address operating system issues in novel hardware environments, including I. Persistent/non-volatile memory:
How OS handles data storage and retrieval in these types of memory. II. Many-cores: Optimizing scheduling,
resource allocation, and synchronization for multi-core architectures.
We explore OS challenges specific to various emerging systems and applications: I. Internet of Things (IoT),
Cloud Computing, Mobile Platforms, Real-time Systems, Embedded Systems, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS),
Healthcare and Automotive Systems, Smart Factories.
* Algorithmic Adaptations:
Given the unique performance characteristics of emerging hardware (e.g., phase-change memory, ReRAM, STT-
MRAM). We consider I/O devices (e.g., sensors, GPS) and special requirements (e.g., deadlines, battery life,
memory limitations) in the OS design.
We encourage authors to share source code or materials related to their developed software with the research
community.
Our findings reveal that Enhanced OS capabilities allow rapid data gathering from various sources, improving asset
management and operational efficiency. OS is evolving to seamlessly manage and integrate IoT, AI, ML, cloud, and
blockchain technologies. These technological integrations are driving operational excellence, offering businesses a
competitive edge. The maturation of these integrations is fostering innovation and efficiency in OS development.
4. Discussions:
Engages in discussions about the practical implications of these algorithms in real-world applications like operating
systems and database management systems.
