NATURAL VENTILATION
AIR MOVEMENT WITHIN BUILDING
CROSS VENTILATION
The natural process of moving air through
a building by allowing air to flow
horizontally between spaces. It involves
the intake of fresh air from one side of a
building and the expulsion of stale air on
the opposite side. This method relies on
pressure differences created by wind and
temperature variations to facilitate the
movement of air.

CROSS VENTILATION
LANDSCAPING - Trees are planted at the back of the building
while planter boxes are placed in the ground floor area as a
heat buffer. Existing trees deflect winds into the interior, and STACK VENTILATION
increase the air flow rate.
A natural ventilation strategy in
architecture that relies on the buoyancy of
warm air to create vertical airflow within a
building. This process takes advantage of
the principle that warm air is lighter and
rises, creating a stack effect that
encourages the movement of air.

STACK VENTILATION
NATURAL VENTILATION
AIR MOVEMENT WITHIN BUILDING
SINGLE SIDED VENTILATION
A natural ventilation strategy that
involves the intake of fresh air from only
one side of a building, while allowing stale
air to exit on the opposite side. This
approach typically relies on prevailing
wind directions and pressure differences
to facilitate the movement of air through
the building.

SINGLE SIDED VENTILATION

VOID / ATRIUM
Leveraging the multidirectional wind flow can be an effective way to ventilate a building. The structure can be designed to optimize the
permeability of its facade and having a void or an atrium can utilize it as the driving force for ventilation. By understanding how wind
flows through and within the structure, we can leverage the facade to influence the movement of air and facilitate optimal ventilation
throughout the building.
