The Necklace

Characters: Mathilde, Monsieur Loisel, Madame Forestier.

Setting: Paris, France 19th Century.

Prologue:
Some guy or narrator:Magandang umaga/hapon/gabi Ginoo at ginang, inerereprepresenta namin ang
kwento tungkol sa insecurities at mga luho. Siguradong makakarelate kayo sa kwentong Ang kwintas na
inilambag ni Guy de Maupassant.

Prologue (Inroduction)
(Lights close for dramatic efek)
Some guy or narrator:Noong dating panahon sa magandang siyudad ng paris,may nakatirang dalawang
magkasinta. Isang napakang gandang babae, pero siya ay puno ng insecurities at puno ng luho na
ngangalang Mathilde. At ang kasintahan niya naman na si Monsieur Loisel isang mapagmahal na lalaki at
ibinibigay nya ang lahat niyang makakaya kahit sila ay hindi ganong kayaman.

(Lightz open)

Scene 1:
(The play starts with mathilde having dinner with her husband in a diner)
(While Mathilde is having her dinner a lady with lovely ribbons and jewelry passes by)

Mathilde: Ang ganda naman ng suot ng babaeng iyon sana mayroon rin akong ganong damit.
Monsieur: Kahit wala kang magandang kasuotan, sa paningin ko ikaw ang pinaka magandang babae sa
buong mundo
Mathilde: Sus sinasabi mo lang yan para pagaangin loob ko. Ang ganda ko nga pero tignan mo, mukha
akong mahirap

( The waiter serves the food to the couple’s table)

Monsieur: Ah! Ang aking paborito isang mainit na tinapay at kape.
Mathilde:Murang kape at lumang tinapay lang naman yan! Sana kumain nalang tayo sa mas sosyal na
resturant.

(All of the lights close except for the spolight. The spotlight points at Mathilde)
(Music Fades in as mathilde walks in a display of beautiful dress)
(The Music starts and the musical act is performed)
(The Musical Act Ends and all lights are closed)

Scene 2:
(The Next Day)
(Monsieur Hurries to wake Mathilde up)
Monsieur: Mathilde mahal! Tignan mo oh! Binigyan tayo ng imbitasyon sa mangyayaring okasyon sa
Central bukas ng gabi!
(Mathilde wakes up and looks at the content of the envelope)
Mathilde:Paano yan! Wala akong maayos na damit na masusuot bukas!
Monsieur: Eh yung sinuot mo kaya nung nag date tayo sa Eiffel Tower.
Mathilde:Wag iyon! Hays paano yan wala talaga akong masusuot na damit
Monsieur: May pinakita ka saking damit na gusto mo nung nakaraan magkano ba iyon?
Mathilde: Ha ibibili mo para sakin iyon?
Monsieur:Oo magkano ba iyon?
Mathilde:20 Euros yun.
( Monsieur scratches his head as he checks the amount of the money in his wallet)
Monsieur: Ah sige… bilhin na natin mamaya.
( Music fades in, and mathilde happily pulls her husband to the shop to buy the new dress)
(A musical act about how happy mathilde Is performed)
(The musical ends with mathilde dissapointed because she feels like shes even more beautiful with
jewelry)

Scene3:
(Monsieur hugs mathilde behind the back)
Monsieur:Ano ang problema mahal?
Mathilde: Parang may kulang… hindi parin sapat to para bukas. Kailangan ko ng magagandang alahas.
Monsieur: Maganda din namang gawing accessories ang mga bulaklak siguro babagay sayo yon.
Mathilde: Ayoko nga! Edi nagmukha parin akong mahirap nun!
Monsieur: Eh humiram kanalang kay Madame Forestier ng alahas! Matalik na kaibigan naman natin siya
siguradong pahihiramin ka nun.
Mathilde: Oo nga buti nalang naisip mo yun.

Scene3:
(Mathilde knocks at madame forestier’s house)
(Forestier opens the door, her eyes widen because shes is delighted to see Mathide)
Forestier:Mathilde ikaw pala iyan! Kamusta kana? Alam mo napakaganda mo tlagang babae ka.
Mathilde: Madame Forestier naman eh (Kinikilig)
Mathilde: Ay nga pala Madame Forestier
Forestier: Ano iyon?
Mathilde Maari ba ako manghiram ng alahas para sa gaganaping okasyon bukas?

(Madame Forestier laughs)

Forestier: Bakit hindi? Siguradong madaming titingin at mamangha sa ganda mong iyan lalo na pag
maganda rin ako iyong suot-suot!
(Madame Forestier shows her display of jewelries to mathilde)
(Mathilde shows an expression of excitement as the reflection of light from diamonds shine across the
room)
Forestier: May nagustuhan kaba dito?
Mathilde:May iba kapabang alahas Madame? Ung kumikinang! Siguradong bagay saakin iyon!
Forestier: Halika dito meron ako diamanteng alahas na siguradong babagay sayo!

(Madame Forestier grabs a box protected with cloth and glass. Madame Forestier slowly opens the box)
( Mathilde slowly peeks at the opened part of the box and is thrilled to see the beautiful diamond set of
jewelries )
Mathilde: Ang ganda! Eto nalang hihiramin ko madame forestier!
Forestier: Siguradong babagay sayo to! Eto oh. Wag mo kalimutan ibalik ah.(The spotlight points outside
the house)
Forestier: Magingat ka ah!
(and the two friends says their goodbyes)
(Mathilde is seen in a rush and is excited to attend the ball)

Scene4:
(Mathilde rushes inside the venue)
(The people pause to admire how beautiful she was as the music slowly fades in)
(Monsieur Loisel slow pulls mathilde in the middle of the crowd)
Monsieur: Sobrang gandamo tlga ang swerte ko ikaw ang naging asawa ko…
Mathide:Che hindi ako magpapaakit sa matatamis na pananalita mo (Medyo kinikilig at naiinis)
(Monsieur offers her hand and Mathilde doesn’t take his hand but Monsieur grabs it anyways)
(The Musical starts and the musical act is performed)

(The Musical Ends with the couple outside the sidewalk talking about how mathilde’s day was)
Mathilde:Hays napaka sayang gabi nito, kailangan ko na ibalik tong kwintas na hiniram- (Mathilde’s eyes
widened because she couldn’t feel the jewelries touch her fingers)
Mathilde: Ung Kwintas! Nawawala!
(Mathilde starts looking for the missing jewelries and kneels desperately finding the missing jewelries)
Mathilde: Hindi ko makita yung kwintas asan na yun?!?! (Habang tinatadyakan ang lapag)
Monsieur:Mahal wag ka mag alala may ipon naman tayo para ma bayar-
Mathilde: Hindi kakasya yun! Nawala pakasi ung kwintas eh (Paiyak na sinabi ni Mathilde)
Mathilde: Siguradong mas higit payon sa isang libo.
Monsieur: Eh paano gagawin natin niyan?
Mathilde: Magttrabaho ako kailangan natin mabalik iyong kwintas!
( The scene cuts)

Scene5:
(Mathilde is seen working hard)
(Music Fades in)
(A musical act is performed while mathilde is working and cleaning)
(The Musical act ends with mathilde knocking at madame forestier’s house)
(Madame Forestier opens the door. She was about to greet the unfamilliar stranger)
Forestier:Sino po-
Mathilde:Madame pasensya na talaga! Hindi-hindi ko nabalik agad ung kwintas nawala ko kasi eh, pero-
pero bumili nalang ako ng bago eto oh pareho napareho…
Forestier: Kumalma-Kumalma hindi mo pa sinasabi ang iyong pangalan…
Mathilde: ako ito sa Mathide…
Forestier: Mathilde?! ikaw ba talaga iyan jusko ano ang nangyari sa iyo?!?!
Mathilde: Nawala ko ang iyong kwintas, pero-pero pinalitan ko naman pasensya na talaga hindi ko agad
nabalik!
Forestier: Oh Mathilde! (she looks down at the floor and grabs her forehead)
(She then looks at Mathilde and hugs her)
Forestier: Dapat sinabi mo sakin, Peke ung kwintas na iyon!(She hugs Mathilde again)
(Mathilde was left speechless her tears fell down as she slowly kneels down)
(The scene ends)
Epilogue:
(The Narrator or some guy who explains walks in the middle of the stage and summarizes the story. (make
the summary very very short.) he explains the moral lesson of the story)
(While the Narrator or some guy explains before the end of the speech all participants of the Play goes
forward and bows )
