Homework 2

My life is a quest for a stable life that consists of a family and possibly kids. I have gained a new perspective and dream
of living in my home with a male role who will be there for my kids and me. I am not too fixated on living a life full of
riches and materialistic things. I value company, love, and care, which I believe is what motivates me as a person. I love
to love and enjoy the feeling of being loved. Sadly in a generation like this not many people value valuable people, but it
will forever be in my heart to value and cherish any person who comes to love my being.
When asked about a role model I question it or have trouble thinking of one. I do thank my grandma and my
algebra teacher from high school. My grandma because she plays the most important role in my life, she is the person
who raised me and led me to be the lady I am today. My grandma had to play the role of a mother and to this day she
still does. She has sacrificed a lot which gives her the position of my mother. She is my mentor, and my role model
because although it wasn’t her doing she took the responsibility of raising, caring, protecting, and nurturing a human
being. Another important mentor I have met in my life is my math teacher Jonathan Loa. Loa played a significant role in
my life because regardless of my struggles which he was aware of he always viewed me as a student with excellence.
Loa always motivated me towards success in the academic and life aspects. Loa was that teacher that I could confide in
regardless of the situation. He always reached an arm out for his students and made sure all his students were aware. I
would consider these two people my mentors and role models since they helped me grow and become a better person.
They walked with me some time in my life and have taught me a lot of things that have now made me the person I am
today.

My biggest asset is my stubbornness. Although stubbornness is mostly seen as a negative trait, I believe it is my
greatest asset mainly because it goes along with my determination. I am a person who once they are placed or stuck on
something it is a must to do their best to succeed from it. I refrain myself a lot from dwelling too much or remaining
stagnant. My biggest flaw is I am too trusting and forgiving. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt a lot even
when they have shown me their worst sides of themselves. I have a problem with believing that people are willing to
change but my heart must accept that not everyone is willing to do that. Having trust and the ability to forgive others is
not necessarily a bad thing but when it is done blindly people will take that as an advantage. People are mean and will
take kindness as a weakness.

I arrived at college in my hometown. Being born and raised in Laredo gave me the advantage of feeling the
comfort of my surroundings. It was intimidating being that it was a different environment than the ones I have been in.
Truthfully attending college was never a priority in mind being that I lacked the knowledge of it. I didn’t know how it
worked or what were the requirements since I am a first generation. I think at the very last minute I took that risk and
decided to register because I didn’t have a clue what I would do in life. I always said to myself that no matter what I
wouldn’t be a slob after high school especially because I know I have the potential to do more for myself. My college
experience has been a good one there is nothing to complain about since everything is done according to you. I think
college has increased my responsibility by a lot since everything is on your own. It intimidates me at times, but I know it
is nothing I cannot overcome. This semester seems to be more challenging than my first, but I will make sure to give it all
I have. I hope to have a great first year at college and end with great grades. I know I made the right impulsive decision
when I decided to get into college.
