Triessent nature of the Feasts of the LORD?
Tri = Three Essence = the intrinsic nature or
indispensable quality of something
Historic Events - Feasts are a memorial of
God’s intervention in the past
Spiritual Parallel - Important spiritual truths
are revealed about our relationship with God
Prophetic Fulfillment - Feasts are rehearsals for
future fulfillment in God’s plan of redemption

Calendar
Unleavened Bread
Biblical/Prophetic Calendar
Much of Bible Prophecy that specifies a
certain number of days/years utilizes a
360 day year.
It is believed by many that originally God
created everything to revolve perfectly
around a 360 day year with 12 months of
30 days each
The Feast
of
Unleavened Bread
Unleavened Bread
Also Known As: Hag HaMatzot
Observed:
15-21 Nisan
March or April
Scripture:
Leviticus 23:6-8
Exodus 12:15-20
Hebrew:
Unleavened Bread
Historic Connection
What event in the history of the
Children of Israel is this Feast designed
to celebrate? (Exodus 12:14-17)
Notice God speaks about this
deliverance as if it’s a completed event
when it hasn’t even happened yet!
Notice God’s view of His people vs.
their own view
Exodus 12:14-17 KJV
{14} And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it
a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast
by an ordinance for ever. {15} Seven days shall ye eat unleavened
bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for
whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day,
that soul shall be cut off from Israel. {16} And in the first day there shall
be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy
convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that
which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. {17} And ye
shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have
I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye
observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.
Unleavened Bread
Historic Connection
In Leviticus 23:6, the Feast of
Unleavened Bread is mentioned as a
separate feast on the 15th day of the
same month as Passover. (Lev 23:6-8)
Leviticus 23:6-8 KJV
{6} And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast
of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat
unleavened bread. {7} In the first day ye shall have an holy
convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. {8} But ye
shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven
days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do
no servile work therein.
Unleavened Bread
Historic Connection
At midnight God visited the land of
Egypt just as He promised. Any home
that did not have the blood on the
doorposts was impacted by the final
plague/curse causing the death of the
firstborn male. (Exodus 14:29-31)
Exodus 12:29-31 KJV
{29} And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote
all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of
Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive
that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. {30}
And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and
all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for
there was not a house where there was not one dead. {31}
And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise
up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the
children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.
Unleavened Bread
Historic Connection
God fulfilled His miraculous promise
to the Children of Israel in stunning
fashion! And this was to be an event
memorialized every year to remember
God’s great deliverance of His people
from the land of Egypt (Ex 12:42)
Exodus 12:42 KJV
{42} It is a night to be much observed unto the LORD for
bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night
of the LORD to be observed of all the children of Israel in
their generations.
Unleavened Bread
Historic Connection
This is one of the three annual feasts
that required a pilgrimage to Jerusalem
to celebrate the Feast. (Deut 16:16)
Deuteronomy 16:16 KJV
{16} Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before
the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in
the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and
in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before
the LORD empty:
Unleavened Bread
Spiritual Parallel
Unleavened Bread is a reminder of
God’s miraculous deliverance from
bondage in Egypt.
Children of Israel were required to
completely eradicate leaven from their
homes. “ye shall put away leaven out of
your houses”
Unleavened Bread
Spiritual Parallel
Painstaking process to make sure that
ALL leaven was removed. Required
very meticulous and careful inspection
of the entire dwelling
This process would begin weeks before
the arrival of the actual Feast Days
What is the spiritual parallel?
Unleavened Bread
Spiritual Parallel
The leavening process is a natural
occurring process by which decay and
fermentation begins to infect dough and
cause it to rise
An handful of old dough was added to
the new dough to initiate this process
Imagine the possibilities of continually
reusing the same dough over and over!
1 Corinthians 5:7 KJV
{7} Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new
lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is
sacrificed for us:
Unleavened Bread
Spiritual Parallel
This unleavened bread (matzah) is
made in a hurry without yeast.
This represents
how the Lord
brought the
Israelites out of
Egypt in haste.
Matzah being broken
Unleavened Bread
Spiritual Parallel
Passover (our deliverance by the
blood) is directly linked to Unleavened
Bread (our hasty departure from Egypt)
Salvation by the Blood of Jesus is
supposed to lead immediately to a hasty
departure for our former slavery to sin
and this world (Egypt)
Unleavened Bread
Spiritual Parallel
Unleavened bread (Matzah) represents
being without sin.
If Passover is a picture of our
salvation, what would the Feast of
Unleavened Bread represent?
It represents our walk with God. It is
to be without the leaven of sin.
1 Corinthians 5:7-8 KJV
{7} Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new
lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is
sacrificed for us: {8} Therefore let us keep the feast, not
with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and
wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and
truth.
Unleavened Bread
Spiritual Parallel
The Children of Israel were to keep the
Feast of Unleavened Bread for 7 days.
What’s the significance of 7 days?
The conclusion of the first Feast of
Unleavened Bread coincided with the parting
of the Red Sea and Israel’s ultimate and final
deliverance from Egypt?
Spiritual parallel?
Unleavened Bread
Prophetic Fulfillment
Children of Israel were required to
completely eradicate leaven from their homes.
“ye shall put away leaven out of your houses”
Jesus fulfilled this on two occasions
recorded in scripture. John 2 & Matt 21
John 2:16 & Matthew 21:13
(John 2:16 KJV) {16} And said unto them that sold doves,
Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an
house of merchandise.

(Matthew 21:13) {13} And said unto them, It is written, My

house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made
it a den of thieves.
Unleavened Bread
Prophetic Fulfillment
Unleavened (matzah) bread represents
being without the corruption of leaven (sin)
Jesus is the only human being ever to fulfill
this requirement - completely free from the
leaven of this world
Hebrews 4:15 KJV
{15} For we have not an high priest which cannot be
touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all
points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Unleavened Bread
Prophetic Fulfillment
Matzah bread is prepared in such a way that
it is striped, bruised, and pierced in the
process of preparation
This presents an exact representation of
Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of the
unleavened bread of required to fulfill this
Feast
Isaiah 53:5 & Psalm 22:16
(Isaiah 53:5) {5} But he was wounded for our
transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed.
(Psalm 22:16) {16} For dogs have compassed me: the
assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my
hands and my feet.
Unleavened Bread
Prophetic Fulfillment
Leaven represents sin and corruption -
works by decay
Unleavened bread is not corrupted by the
decaying process caused by leaven
OT Prophecy related to the burial of the
Messiah (Ps 16:10)
Psalm 16:10 KJV
{10} For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt
thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Unleavened Bread
Prophetic Fulfillment
Unleavened Bread requires a sabbath day on the
first day and the seventh day. No work can be
done other than what’s necessary to keep the Feast
requirements.
This is a picture of our salvation, accomplished
only by the Passover Lamb and His unleavened
life
Our salvation cannot be accomplished by our
works… only the Blood of the Lamb and His
perfect sacrifice.
Hebrews 12:2 KJV
{2} Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;
who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the
throne of God.
