TIME MANAGEMENT

“Time Does Matter”

Time management during an exam is crucial to ensure you can answer all questions to the best of your ability
within the time limit. Here are some tips to help you manage your time effectively during an exam.

1. Paper format
Before the exam, be familiar with the format. Know how many questions it includes and the types (multiple-choice,
essays, short answers, etc.). This will help you allocate your time accordingly

TIME MANAGEMENT
2. Read instructions
Take a few minutes to read through the instructions and all questions if possible. This helps avoid mistakes due
to misunderstanding the questions or instructions
3. Time allocation
Divide the total exam time by the number of questions to figure out approximately how much time you should
spend on each section or question.

 Total available time for Section-I and Section-II = 160 min
 Maximum time spent for Section-I = 88 min
 Maximum time spent for Section-II = 60 min
 Maximum time spent for Section-I and Section-II = 148 min
 Extra time for review paper = 12 min

4. Prioritize question
Answer the questions you know well first. This builds confidence and ensures you score points quickly. Leave more
time-consuming or challenging questions for later.
5. Time check
Regularly check the time, but don’t obsess over it. You can wear a watch or position yourself where you can see a
clock.
TIME MANAGEMENT
6. Time for difficult questions

If you get stuck on a question, move on after your allocated time and return to it if you have time left at the end. This
prevents you from spending too much time on one question at the expense of others.
7. Practice
While preparing for the exam, practice with sample papers or past questions under timed conditions. This will help you
get used to managing your time effectively
8. Plan long questions
If the exam includes essay-type or long-answer questions, spend a few minutes planning your answer before you start
writing. Jot down key points you want to cover. This helps structure your answer and saves time during the actual
writing
9. Review paper
If you finish early, use any remaining time to review your answers and check for careless mistakes or incomplete
answers.
10. Stay calm and focused
Keeping calm can help you think clearly and manage your time better. Avoid looking at what others are doing; focus on
your own exam and manage your time according to your plan.
SHEET MANAGEMENT

“SPACE DOES MATTER”

Managing your answer sheet or booklet effectively during an exam can help you present your work neatly and
logically, which can make a good impression on the person grading your work. Effective sheet management can help
you stay organized and maximize your performance by making your answers easy to navigate and assess.
Here are some practical tips for managing your exam sheets
1. Read instructions
Before you start writing, make sure you understand the format required for answering.
2. Margins and Headings
Keep your work organized by using margins and headings. Clearly label different sections or questions, especially if
you’re answering essay-type or long-answer questions on the same sheet. This makes it easier for the grader to
follow your answers.
SHEET MANAGEMENT
3. Plan space
Before starting, quickly estimate how much space each answer will need. Avoid squeezing in answers at the
bottom of the page or continuing in the margins. If you think a question will require a lot of space, consider
starting it on a new page.

Total pages for short questions = 11 Total long questions = 3 (six parts)
Pages left for long questions = 20 Total pages for long questions = 18
Pages left for extra questions = 2
SHEET MANAGEMENT
4. Paper presentation
Neat handwriting is crucial. If your handwriting is difficult to read, you risk losing marks because the examiner cannot understand
what you have written
5. Sequence of answers
Attempt questions in sequence. If you have started short questions number 2, then attempt all its parts before starting question 3.
6. Bullet points
When appropriate, use bullet points or numbered lists to make your answers clearer and more structured. This is particularly useful
in exams that involve explaining concepts or listing items.
7. Corrections
If you need to make corrections, do so neatly. A single line through the mistake is usually better than a scribble, and using
correction fluid or tape is prohibited.
8. Review
If time allows, skim through your answers for any obvious errors, unanswered questions, or pages that might have accidentally
stuck together. Make sure everything is answered in a logical order and your handwriting remains legible even as you may have
rushed towards the end.
PAPER PRESENTATION
➢ Presentation should be neat and clean subheadings highlighted with marker.
➢ Questions should be in proper order ➢ Do not leave space anywhere on paper.
➢ Question numbers must be written in the center of ➢ Cuttings, overwriting, or use of removers will lead
the sheet to a deduction in marks.
➢ Each short question should be attempted on 6-7 ➢ Time management is very important to attempt to
lines complete a paper.
➢ One or two extra short questions should be ➢ At the end of each question, draw a proper line that
attempted separates it from other questions.
➢ Well-prepared and easy questions should be solved ➢ Important points in short questions and long
first questions must be highlighted underlined or written

➢ Question numbers, headings, and subheadings
should be placed at the center of the page.
