Sheet (2)
Loudspeaker
1- A direct-radiator dynamic loudspeaker has a total mass of 0.01 kg (the
cone and voice coil) and operates in a magnetic field of flux density of
1.0weber/m². The radius of the speaker is 0.1m, its mechanical
resistance is 1Kg/sec, its radiation resistance is 2Kg/sec, its radiation
reactance is 2Kg/sec, and the stiffness of the cone system is 2000nt/m,
the length of the voice coil is 7.5m, its inductance is 0.0005 h, and its
resistance is 10 ohms.
Compute the following quantities at a frequency of 200c/s
(a) The frequency of mechanical resonance,
(b) The electro-acoustic efficiency,
(c) The acoustic power output W for an input current 2amperes.

2- If the loudspeaker of problem (1) is mounted in a back-enclosed

cabinet of volume 0.1m³, compute the frequency of mechanical
resonance and the acoustic power output.

3- For the direct radiator of the loudspeaker of problem (1), compute the
acoustic power output produced by a driving voltage of 20 volts and RMS
displacement amplitude of the speaker cone at resonance.
