Orchestral Experiences
Rosângela has been working as professional percussionist since 1999
in symphony orchestras, brass groups, symphonic bands, chamber
music groups and at music festivals. She was part of the Goiás Youth
Symphony Orchestra (2001 to 2008), São Paulo State Youth
Orchestra (2011), USP Chamber Orchestra (2011), Experimental
Repertory Orchestra (2011-2018) and was invited by the orchestras:
OSESP (São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra), São Paulo
Municipal Theater Orchestra, Goiás Symphony Orchestra, Jazz
Symphony Orchestra, São Caetano do Sul Symphony Orchestra,
Campinas Symphony Orchestra, Santo André Symphony
Orchestra, Mogi das Cruzes Symphony Orchestra, São Pedro
Theater Orchestra and São José dos Campos Symphony
Orchestra. She was also soloist of the Academic Orchestra of
UNESP in 2010 playing the Concert for Marimba and Vibrafone
(Almeida Prado).
Rhafaelle participated in the SESC Chamber Music Festival in 2018
with the show: “Between Drums, Drumsticks and Shakers”
contemporary chamber group concert for children, curated by Ricardo
Bologna (OSESP) and Eduardo Leandro (Stony Brook University)
playing in all the eight concerts.
Singer/Popular percussion
As a percussionist/singer, she produced the following shows: “Rosa
Rhafa and Friends” (2014), “Rosa Nega” (2016), “Café com Rosa”
(2018). During 2015 she was part of Cia Cabelo de Maria with the
shows “POIN”, “Xenhenhém” and “Baianá”. During 2017 she was a
member of the experimental percussion duo “CONEXAS” with Luana
Oliveira. She is currently part of the duo “Rosa Rhafa and Nelton Essi”
in which she sings accompanied by Vibraphone.
As Teacher
Rhafaelle taught at the “Soarte Social Project” for five years
(2014-2019) for the Mary Harriet Speers Foundation. The areas she
had been involved were music theory, popular/classical percussion
and orientation of the young percussion students at the “Educacional
Soarte Orchestra”.
Podcast: PERCCAST
In order to create materials for social media, Rosângela created the
only podcast on Orchestral Percussion in Brazil, called PERCCAST
which is about Orchestral Percussion and Popular Percussion. In
addition, she interviews Brazilian percussionists and drummers.
