REORGANIZATION ACT 1407 was passed into law in November 1, 1905 mandating the Philippine Commission to create the
Bureau of Prisons under the Department of Commerce and Police.
EXECUTIVE ORDER 292, Book IV, Title III, Chapter 8, Sec. 26 created the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

The BuCor (Filipino: Kawanihan ng Koreksiyon) (KK) is an agency of the DOJ which is charged with the custody and
rehabilitation of national offenders.
The BuCor is headed by a Director appointed by the President of the Philippines.
The agency has its headquarters in the NBP Reservation in Muntinlupa City.
