THE FUNCTION HEXAGON

This is the Function Hexagon. It consists of six (6) trigonometric ratios namely: sine
ratio, cosine ratio, tangent ratio, cotangent ratio, secant ratio, and cosecant ratio. It
includes the five (5) fundamental trigonometric identities.

The first group of identities is called the Reciprocal

The fourth group of identities is called the


Cofunction Identities. Where
sin 𝜃 = cos(90° − 𝜃),
tan 𝜃 = cot(90° − 𝜃), and sec 𝜃 = csc(90° − 𝜃).

And lastly, the Pythagorean Identities. Where 𝑠𝑖𝑛2 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠 2 𝜃 = 1, 𝑡𝑎𝑛2 𝜃 + 1 = 𝑠𝑒𝑐 2 𝜃, and
1 + 𝑐𝑜𝑡 2 𝜃 = 𝑐𝑠𝑐 2 𝜃.
