MY REFLECTION IN MINERALS
I learned what minerals are, their properties and how minerals are very
important in our daily lives due to their uses. Minerals are the building
blocks. Mineralogist use the criteria to
determine whether a material is
classified as a mineral or not.
Color, streak, hardness, clevage,
diaphaneity, and tenacity are some of
the characteristics of minerals. Thanks
to the knowledge I gained from this
module, i now know that diamond is the hardest mineral.Minerals are
naturally occurring, inorganic, homogenous solids with a known chemical
composition, and organized and repeating patterns.
Minerals are an essential part of our everyday life. There are many
uses for minerals, such as in cooking, where halite found in table salt is used
as a preservative and to flavor foods. Modern medicine also relies on many
drugs and instruments made from minerals. . Many medications and
pharmaceuticals use sulphur and salts as basic components. Vitamins,
mineral supplements, and medicines contain a variety of different
minerals. They also useful in technology and transportation. Minerals are
very important so we should conserve and preserve the natural sources of
the minerals.
MY REFLECTION IN ORIGIN AND
STRUCTURE OF EARTH SCIENCE
Our planet is the third planet from the Sun, and it is the only place we

know of that is inhabited by living things and known to harbor life. Earth is
the only planet in our solar system containing liquid water on its surface,
despite being only the fifth largest planet in the system.
Planet Earth is unique for three reasons: (1) it has liquid water; (2) it
has plate tectonics; and (3) it has an atmosphere that is unique.
Earth is the only planet in the solar system with a large amount of liquid
water. Liquid or frozen water covers about 70% of the Earth's surface. As a
result, the Earth isPlanet Earth, also known as the "blue planet," is livable
due to its proper distance from the sun. It has the right chemical elements
for life, including water and carbon, and is kept heated by an insulating
atmosphere. It has the ability to provide water, oxygen, and important
biological products. It is inhabited by humans and has an appropriate
climate and weather.

MY REFLECTION IN MOVEMENT OF
PLATES AND FORMATION OF FOLDS
AND FAULTS
The tectonic movement of the Earth's plates has resulted in the folding
and faulting of the Earth's crust. This is caused by the Earth's plates converging,
diverging or transversing against one another.
Transform boundaries are places where
plates slide sideways past each other
horizontally.The lithosphere is neither
generated nor destroyed at transform
borders. Many transform boundaries can be
observed on the seabed, connecting portions
of divergent mid-ocean ridges. The San
Andreas fault in California is a transform boundary.

Convergent boundaries, where two plates are

moving toward each other, are of three
types, depending on the type of crust present
on either side of the boundary — oceanic or
continental. The types are ocean-ocean,
ocean-continent, and continent-
continent.Examples of ocean-ocean
convergent zones are subduction of the
Pacific Plate south of Alaska (creating the Aleutian Islands) and under the Philippine
Plate, where it creates the Marianas Trench, the deepest part of the ocean.

Divergent Plate Boundaries are the

boundaries at which the earth's tectonic
plates are separating. The majority of these
boundaries are found on the ocean. They
form a continuous chaat of volcanic
mountains and riit on the ground floors.Mid-
ocean ridges are ridges that run through the
world's oceans. Atlantic Ridge is good
example which runs down the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
