Learning Describe the distinct sound quality of the different instruments of the

Key Concepts/Understandings to Most authors today, grouped musical instruments into four families, namely :
be Developed:
1. Stringed Family – sound is produced by plucking, called pizzicato.
2. Woodwind Family – the tone is produced by a column of air vibrating within a pipe that
has little holes in the sides.
3. Brass Family – the tone is produced by the stretched lips of the player, called
embouchure, which means the method of applying the lips and tongue
to the mouthpiece of a wind instrument. This demands great muscular
control.
4. Percussion Family – sound is produced by striking or shaking
5. Keyboard instruments – produced a vast range of music through the use of fingers and

2. Have one pupil present in front using improvised instruments.
s4.1.Introductory Activity 3. Motivation : Show to the pupils the manipulation of a real instruments in producing
(7 minutes) sounds.
Ask :How do we produced sounds in these instruments?
1. Discussed to them the four groups of musical instruments on how it produces sounds.
4.2. Activity 2. Performing the activity ( Form pupils into group )
(10 minutes) Guide the pupils to group the musical instruments based on how it produces sounds.
3. Processing the activity ( the teacher will give additional input to the pupils ).

4.3.Analysis
How do we produced sounds with these musical instruments?
( 7 minutes)

4.4. Abstraction We produced sounds by plucking, through air vibration, stretching of lips, striking and
( 7 minutes) Through the use of fingers and thumbs.

4.5.Application Let the pupils pick two pictures of musical instruments and compare regarding as to how it
(8 minutes) produces sounds.
5. Assessment Direction : The teacher showed pictures of a musical instruments one by one. Let them
( 4 minutes) write the name and indicate how sounds is produced.
