Instructional Strategies: SEI Strategies: Gallery Walk Complete Sentences

Engagement Strategies: Small Group

Learning Strategies (graphic organizer, predicting, summarizing, evaluating,

etc.): Peer feedback, research skills, self-evaluation, and graphic organizers
LESSON DELIVERY
Time Needed: 10 min Opening/Warm-Up (activating prior
knowledge, building background knowledge,
focusing on key vocabulary, engaging
interest): We’ll start the lesson with the KWL
Chart, what they know, want to know, and what
they learned about Cultural diversity. I’ll also
cover briefly the cultures we’ll be covering
(Muslim, African America, Mexican, Japanese,
Native American, and Hawaiian) and introduce
the articles for the lesson that I listed above.

Time Needed: 20 min Presentation of Content (new knowledge or

skills): Transitioning from the Introduction of
the articles I will give some interesting facts on
each article without giving away the story. Along
with that, I will point out key vocabulary and
Objectives that I want students to watch out for
to help them in the later on group discussions.

Time Needed: 30 min Practice/Application (interaction with new

knowledge or skills): For this, I will split the
students into 6 groups with each one being
assigned a poster board and article. They
will review the article and design the poster
with interesting facts to share with the class
about the culture and person in the article.

Time Needed: 10 min Review/Assessment (What will they do to

show you what they learned?): We will then
have a quick gallery walk for every student
to look at the different posters. Finally, each
student will be given an individual refection
papers to fill out as their exit tickets before
leaving class.
