College Programs for High School Students
We’ve provided some steps for you to take before completing your Harvard Summer School application.
Know which program you’re going to apply to.
The Harvard Summer School has a 2-week
non-credit (Pre-College Program) and a 7-week
for-credit (Secondary School Program) options for
high school students. Research each one and
determine which is right for you.

Look through the course catalog.
The Pre-College Program and Secondary School
Program have different courses available, so look
at what courses are available, and make sure you
can enroll in what you want to take. The 2022
courses will be available in late January, but you
can look at what was offered in 2021 to get an
idea. Find a few classes you’re interested in and
list your 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice below.

Talk with your parent(s) or guardian(s).
It’s important to talk with your parents and make
sure that a Harvard Summer program will fit into
your family’s summer plans and your parents
know what is involved.
Block off time to work on your application.
To avoid undue stress, block off time on your
calendar to work on your application.
Schedule an appointment with your school
counselor or head.
You will need a counselor report and transcripts for
your application. Schedule time with your school
counselor or head to ensure they have time to
complete this step.

Mark your calendar with important deadlines.
The early application/priority financial aid deadline
is 1/26/22, Noon ET and regular application/finan-
cial aid deadline is 3/2/22, Noon ET. There will also
be deadlines to register for classes, pay for your
program, and more, so check your email and
summer.harvard.edu/high-school-programs for all
these deadlines.
If English is not your native language, take the
TOEFL iBT or IELTS.
You will need to submit scores from the TOEFL iBT
or IELTS language proficiency exam along with
your application.
