WARNING RED ALERT

[DIFFERENT SETTINGS]

PROTAGONIST: It’s summer and yes, we suffer. [Switch Setting] During this time of the year, beaches
and mountain provinces are one of the top tourist spots in the Philippines. [SS] Yes, experiencing heat is
totally normal in summer however, there’s much more to it than the melting tip of the iceberg. [SS]
Everything changes drastically over time and so our climate.

[BLACK OUT]

[Flashes different news about (jeepney phaseout, climate change, heat index, suspension of classes due to
extreme heat, power outages due to shortage of supply), OVERLAPPING NEWS. Include the self-made
report for the sake of story line – Anchors]

[SETTING: OUTDOORS]
ANCHOR 1: March 2024 was the warmest March on record for the globe in National Oceanic
Atmospheric Administration’s 175-year record. And according to National Centers For Environmental
Information, there is a 55% chance that 2024 will rank as the warmest year on record.

[SETTING: HOUSE]

[MOVING SHOT]

Protagonist watching the breaking news as he gets ready for school. Family members video
shots, drinking cold water, fanning themselves.

[SETTING: SCHOOL. CINEMATIC VIEW OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL, SHOULD INCLUDE THE
VEHICLES (PRIMARILY JEEPNEYS) TO EMPHASIZE JUST HOW MUCH CO2 IS
PRODUCED]

[SHOT, Slow-mo, mildly dramatic tensed background music]

As he walks, he vividly notices the struggles of one student to another due to extreme heat.
[WALKING, PASSING BY SCENARIO TO HIGHLIGHT THE ISSUE]

OVERLAPPING LINES OF STUDENTS AS HE PASSES BY

[INSERT SUDDEN RING TONE, STILL MOVING SHOT]

Protagonist curious face suddenly turned serious. Nervous sweating, shock.

[BLACKS OUT. SWITCH TO HOSPITAL/CLINIC SETTING AFTERWARDS]

Sibling 1: [Sobbing]

Protagonist: [Pale, looking so confused, devastated, messy]

Sibling 1: Kuya… w-wala na si Tatay. [Trembling voice]

Protagonist sees his family members crying and hugging each other.

[SWITCH TO FATHER’S POV]

The father is working under the scorching heat however, at a sudden moment, he feels dizzy,
hot, and has unusually dry skin. No one was able to attend to his aid when he collapsed thus,
resulting in his death.

Note: The father’s occupation is more fitting to represent jeepney drivers to cover the issue of
jeepney phaseout as an application of STS. It is because traditional jeepneys produce so much
CO2 that negatively impacts our environment. CO2 is one of the greenhouse gasses that
causes climate change.

[BACK AGAIN TO HOSPITAL SETTING]

Protagonist left no strength. He drops his bag dramatically and slowly approaches his bereaved
family.

[FADE, BLACKS OUT]

Insert text: This is just one of the many effects of climate change.
