EMERGENCY RESPONSE ACTIONS

 Report to supervisors or site safety and observe if any signs or symptoms of heat-related illness.
 Stop activity immediately.
 Take action while waiting for help.
 Gave first aid treatment if any nurse available at site work.
 CALL 911 immediately if a worker shows any signs of heat stroke
 refer to heat stress plan procedure

ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS (Example: Ramadan period, deep excavations, and others

 Drink plenty of water—about 1 cup of cool water every 15 to 20 minutes, even when not thirsty—and avoid alcohol, coffee, tea and
caffeinated soft drinks that dehydrate the body.
 Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
 Workers should change their clothes if they get completely saturated.
 First aid workers should be trained to recognize and treat the signs of heat stress.
 Workers should know who has been trained to provide aid.
 Supervisors should be trained to detect early signs of heat-related illness and permit workers to interrupt their work if they become
extremely uncomfortable.
 Consider physical condition when determining fitness to work in hot environments.
 Alternate work and rest periods, with rest periods in a cooler area Shorter, more frequent work-rest cycles are best.
 7. Monitor temperatures, humidity and workers’ responses to heat at least hourly.

1. Orange Condition: buddy system is required and, if possible, shade should be provided over the jobsite.
2. Heat Index ≥ 45, elevated work activities shall be stopped.
3. Red Condition: work shall be stopped unless corrective actions can be implemented to reach Orange Condition.
