Some of the common issues my learners face:

They neglect or read over the key detail elements that could help them with their response, and often
find themselves answering blind folded. As referring to the case study and specially data response there
are hints or points stated that if further analyzed would easily fetch them material and the blueprint to
write their response. They often go for the general discussion area’s like if the question stated e.g. state
as to why Shawn finds it difficult to operate in country in country Z?

Here they randomly state points as to the situation of Shawn’s business (challenges in general)
rather than picking up the areas where Shawn’s business is facing difficulty to operate in
country Z. In general, a business may face many challenges/problems while its functioning but
not necessarily that those very challenges/problems are reason for their operation in other
country.

I’m trying to inculcate this technique where as some able learners are responding well, and
while some under achiever learners are going deep into the pit leading to further confusion as
to how they should answer? The solution to this is practice and that’s what I’m aiming for
nowadays, deducing each response from last monthly test papers so that they gain a wider and
clear perspective regarding answering a particular question.

They are in a hurry to draw a conclusion and that’s the time they actually try stating points that may or
may not be relevant and end up stating more of analysis, compromising on evaluation (the portion of
analysis that they should have covered in evaluation).

1st who are under achiever who lack necessary knowledge that the question
demands to perceive the meaning in its true nature.

2nd who tend to sway away while answering a specific question and diverge from
the original answer that they wanted to write.

3rd those who are in a hurry to answer the question well before time (again
relating to the problem discussed earlier of being under the impression of writing
more leads to more marks) hence students coping up the time by reading the
data and the question in a hurry, hence fail to understand the question properly.

The solution to this what I am practicing is asking the students to pay more
detail attention to the data or the case study as there are different assessment
objectives for each question and that help them by reading the question out
aloud and making their mistakes realize by making them go through the last term
paper and how they misunderstood the question and failed to fulfill the
assessment criteria. In a nut shell its practice, asking them to read to
understand and helping students develop better understanding of the
commanding words that help to understand which assessment objective does
the examiner wants them to demonstrate.
