Sharing of Learning The students will be able to:

Objectives  Define 'elapsed time'.

 Calculate elapsed time by using the number line.

Introduction Images of few clocks will be projected. Students will be asked to arrange the
given clocks in order as per the time. (6 . 6:30, 7 , 7:30 , 8:00 , 8:30)

long was I at the City center? Students will use number line to find elapsed time.

The students are encouraged to define elapsed time in their own words.
Elapsed time is the amount of time that passes from the start of an event to its
finish.

Q2. Ellen began to do her homework at 3:00 p.m. She finished at 5:30 p.m. How
long did Ellen take to complete her homework?

Critical thinking question

The time in India is one and a half hours ahead of U.A.E. If you want to call your
uncle at 12 O’clock (Indian time), at what UAE time you should make a call?
Group A-

1) The Primary Super Strikers(PSS) final match started at 10 O’clock. The match
 got over at 11:30. How long did they play the match?

2) Emirates aircraft from Dubai to Delhi was scheduled to depart at 12:30. Due
to rain the flight departed at 2:00. Find out for how long the flight was
delayed?

Group B-

1. Sara leaves her home at 5:30. She reaches school at 7:00. Complete the
number line and find out how long it took her to reach the school?

2) Expo bus rider from Sharjah Rolla started at 11:30 and reached the
destination by 1:00. Complete the number line and find out how long it took to
reach the EXPO?

Group C-

1) Ben’s father works in Abu Dhabi. He was expecting a customer at 11:30. Due
to heavy traffic the customer reached at 1:00. How long the customer was late?
Draw a number line to find the elapsed time.

2) If Ben’s father he reaches home at 5:00. If he took 2 and half hours for
travelling, when did he leave his office? Draw a number line to find the time.

Mohamed planned to visit India. The scheduled departure time from Sharjah
 airport is 10:00. The total flying time is 4 hrs.
