MICROSOFT EXCEL EXPLORATION ACTIVITY SHEET

COMMON FILIPINO HOMES EXPENSES

Activity 1. Label the Parts


Using the activity sheet provided by the teacher, label the parts or tools found inside the Microsoft
Excel. Read the description of each part below as a clue.

1. Title Bar: Displays the application name and filename of your workbook.
2. Quick Access Toolbar: Provides shortcuts to frequently used commands. You can
customize this toolbar.
3. Ribbon: Contains various tabs with groups of buttons and tools for formatting, data
manipulation, and more.
4. File Tab: Opens the backstage view for managing files, creating new workbooks, and
accessing options.
5. Formula Bar: Displays the contents of the selected cell and allows entering formulas or
editing cell data.
6. Name Box: Shows the cell address (e.g., A1) of the selected cell.
7. Rows: Horizontal sections of the worksheet identified by numbers.
8. Columns: Vertical sections of the worksheet identified by letters (A, B, C, etc.).
9. Cells: The intersection of a row and column, where data is entered or formulas are created.
(Each cell has a unique address)
10. Scroll Bars: Allow you to navigate through the worksheet horizontally and vertically.
11. Status Bar: Displays information about the selected cell, like cell formatting or editing
mode.

Activity 2. Enter your data following the table below:

Add more according to what you spend at home.

Activity 3. Formula Fun!


Formulas are like recipes that take data and perform calculations. In excel, you can type a formula by
typing “=” sign first. Then, you can add the command you wish to perform.

Calculate the sum of all expenses, using the following formula:


=SUM(NAME OF THE FIRST CELL: NAME OF THE LAST CELL)
Example: =SUM(B2:B6)

OR
=SUM(NAME CELL 1, NAME OF CELL 2, ETC.)
EXAMPLE:
=SUM(B2,B3,B4,B5,B6)
