be protected from the environment1. Dressing in the right clothes for special situations
increases people's self-esteem1. As self-perception turns positive through fashion dressing,
well-dressed people receive better treatment1. Clothing like any basic need allows people to
reach a minimum living standard1. Given the importance to people's well-being, yearly
expenditures usually include clothing; the Netherlands' median yearly wage (€38,500)3. The
recommended clothing expenditure should not exceed 5% of one's take-home salary5.

VF Corporation is one of the largest clothing, footwear, and accessories organization across the
world. In the FY 2023 the company made a revenue of $9.8 Billion of which Vans and The
Northface brand jointly accounted for about 75% of the company's sales in the same period7;p28.
Further, of all regions it sells its products globally, the Americas accounted for the biggest share
of revenue (58%) 7;p28.

Considering a shirt, pair of pants, and shoes: The average price for a Van's shirt is $ 32.2 (24
shirts)8, a pair of pants costs $59.2 (25 pairs)9, while a pair of shoes costs $77.2 (Total $168.6)10.
For The Northface the average price of a shirt is $46.3 (24 shirts)11, a pair of pants cost $113.5
(24)12, while a pair of shoes costs $142.1 (total $ 301.9) 13. Considering Vans and Northface VF
Corporation average cost for the 3 items ($235.2) is about 2 times higher than the amount
Americans spent on clothes4.

For the company’s competitor Under Armour, the average price of a shirt, pants, and shoe
is $448, $609, and $13710, respectively ($ 241 total). For Reebok and Nike the total cost is
$21613,15,14 and $32716,17,18respectively. On average the three competitors charge $261.3, which is
1.5 times higher than VF’s cost.

VF Corporation prices are lower than that of its competitors.
