TERMS OF THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES WILSON LLOYD GEORGE CLEMENCEAU


1. War Guilt Cause
Germany had to accept the blame for starting the war.

2. Reparations
Germany had to pay reparations to the Allies for the damage
caused by the war. Set at 6,600 million pounds

3. German territories and colonies


The Rhineland became a demilitarised zone.
Saarland was to be run by the League of Nations and then a
plebiscite was to be held after 15 year.
Lithuania, Estonia became independent states. Germany had
taken these states from Russia in 1918.
Union between Austral and Germany was forbidden.

4. Germany’s armed forces


Army was limited to 100,000 men
Conscription was banned – soldiers had to be volunteers

Germany was not allowed armoured vehicles, submarines or
aircraft.
Navy could have only 6 battleships.
The Rhineland became a demilitarised zone. This meant that no
German troops were allowed into that area.

League of Nations was set up as an international “police force”
