QUESTION 5 : BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT (MARKET ENVIRONMENT)

Businesses realise the importance of the market environment in achieving their


goals and objectives. They need to know the features of this environment so that
they can influence them. They need to understand the reasons why competition
poses a challenge to businesses. The market environment also presents
opportunities and threats for businesses.

Write an essay on the market environment in which you include the following aspects:

 Elaborate on the meaning of the market environment.


 Explain the following components of the market environment:
o Consumers
o Intermediaries
 Discuss the reasons why competition poses a challenge to businesses.
 Advise businesses on the meaning of opportunities and threats and give

QUESTION 6: BUSINESS OPERATIONS (BUSINESS FUNCTIONS)

Businesses realise the importance of coordinating activities within business


functions to achieve set goals and objectives. The purchasing function is one of
the fundamentals of a business concern. The National Credit Act has a direct
impact on the purchasing function. The business should be aware of the
consumer rights as stipulated in the NCA.

Write an essay on the purchasing function in which you include the following aspects:

• Outline the activities of the purchasing function.


• Describe the purpose of the purchasing procedure.
• Analyse the impact of the National Credit Act (NCA) on business.
