1. Source Evaluation:

 Who published or shared this news article? Is it a well-known and reputable news
organization?

a. The youtube channel PweDelie TV published this news which was first titled to
“Wow, Pres BBM opened the first livestock aquaculture in the Philippines.” The
aforementioned channel is well-known for posting political assertions. All that is
seen in his videos are pictures related to his subject and his voice-over discussing it.
Although the channel was certified, it is not visible on YouTube; nonetheless, there
is a Facebook page with the same name as the channel.
b. This fraudulent accusation was issued on Twitter by a user going by the handle Mr.
Montero. His account did not pertain to his true identity, and he is unverified. His
earlier posts discussed his views on politics and other topics.
c. This assertion was discussed by Baby Franchesca Vlogs, a Facebook member. She
has 3.7k likes and 85k followers but is not verified. Her most recent blogs discuss
the typhoons and weather in a particular part of the Philippines. Additionally, a
variety of people are reporting on this news; for example, some of them are college
students.

 Does the website domain look legitimate? Are there any signs of a suspicious or
misleading URL?

The fake news websites are authentic, but the content and information they are
disseminating are unverified and only assertions based on a dearth of reliable and
authentic proof regarding the subject matter.

 Are there any author credentials provided? Can you verify the author's expertise or
qualifications on the subject?

The Twitter account did not include any copyright language because the content was
the author's opinion, but the Facebook page and YouTube channel do include a
disclaimer in every post they upload regarding the subjects they cover. The writers
lack expertise or control over the suitability of the topics mentioned.

2. Content Analysis:

 Does the headline seem sensationalized or exaggerated? Does it use emotional

language to evoke a strong reaction?

a. The Livestock Philippines event took place in 2011 and the Aquaculture
Philippines trade fair in 2017, providing updates on the livestock and
aquaculture sectors. Proceso Alcala, a former secretary of agriculture, introduced

these gatherings. Exaggerated language is used in this film to describe incidents
involving cattle and aquaculture.
b. The Twitter user employed dramatic language, which the online community
readily accepted. Memorandum Order No. 19, 2014 thru CHED states that
honorary degrees are awarded to a chosen few who have proven themselves in
their disciplines; therefore, former vice president Leni Robredo's five honorary
degrees were exceptional.
c. In order to draw in viewers who are simply scrolling through their news feed on
Facebook, the page use both sensationalized and overstated language in relation
to the video's substance. The aforementioned information was made official by
former President Benigno Aquino under Republic Act 10645, which mandates
that all senior citizens be automatically enrolled in PhilHealth.

 Are there any spelling or grammatical errors in the article? Does it seem hastily
written or poorly researched?

The information from the Google search that the Twitter user conducted for the
aforementioned news concerning former vice president Leni Robredo purchasing
her honorary degrees was not reliable, nor did it demonstrate that degrees were
actually being purchased. The post was aggressive and elicited varying responses
from online users, including both her supporters and detractors.

 Does the article provide credible sources or evidence to support its claims? Are
these sources verifiable and from reputable organizations?

The public was misled by false information that was not even formally confirmed by
President Marcos, thanks to the use of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s name on the
Facebook page and YouTube channel for earlier events that former President
Benigno Aquino and former Agiculture Secretary Proceso Alcala proposed. Even
though the internet community already knew that President Marcos did not propose
these events, they nonetheless presented it to them as though he had. Regarding the
tweet, he spreads and persuades the public about unfounded allegations against
former vice president Robredo by using her name. These demonstrate how even
one individual can keep others from learning the truth about a subject or issue that
is being misrepresented.

3. Fact-Checking:

 Can you find the same information reported by other credible news sources? Cross-
check the information to ensure its accuracy.

Yes, I can find the same information reported by the reliable news sources. These are
the following reliable sources that is covered by the fake news made by other
people. We should not trust easily about some articles because some of them are
fake and can be arrested for violating the Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code.

a. The Rappler claims that the Livestock Philippines event was held for the first
time in 2011. The Department of Agriculture's Regional Field Office No. 7
website also provided coverage of the event. Proceso Alcala, the former secretary

of agriculture, gave the introductory remarks. This was referred regarded as the
international back-to-back event for the Philippines' agricultural growth. On May
24 and 26, 2017, Aquaculture Philippines held its inaugural event. According to a
post-show report on the Livestock Philippines website, this event took place in
the same year as the 4th edition of the Livestock Philippines event.
b. Pressone claimed that former vice president Leni Robredo's diligence and
perseverance were the reasons behind her five honorary degrees. She was
chosen because to her noteworthy actions that have an impact on her fields. She
was rewarded Doctor of Humanities at Ateneo de Naga University (June 22,
2023), Doctor of Philosophy in Economics at Ateneo de Manila University
(August 27, 2022), Doctor of Humanities at the University of Saint Anthony
(April 19, 2017), Doctor of Laws at the University of the Cordilleras (August 31,
2017), and Doctor in Public Administration at the Polytechnic University of the
Philippines (April 15, 2015).
c. According to Rappler, since 2014, Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth)
has automatically provided health insurance to all senior people 60 years of age
and over. Additionally, Republic Act 10645, often known as the Expanded Senior
Act, was formally signed into law by former president Benigno Aquino.
According to this regulation, even if a senior citizen does not make monthly
contributions, they are automatically deemed members of PhilHealth if they are
sixty years of age or more.

 Are there any fact-checking websites or tools you can use to verify the claims made
in the article? Look for consensus among multiple fact-checkers.

Numerous tools exist for confirming the authenticity of websites, such as checking
the site status after inputting the URL. In addition, the information should be
sourced from reputable, recognized, and authoritative websites. Furthermore, by
examining the publications' publication dates, authors, and references.

 Are there any quotes or statements taken out of context? Look for full context to
understand the complete picture.

The narrator provides the following example for the third: “In an interview with the
National Commission of Senior Citizens or NCSC Chairperson Atty. Franklin Quijano,
the chairman explained that senior citizens should take advantage of the new
benefits given by our President.” This assertion deviates from the trustworthy
source we consulted. The NCSC chairperson reportedly stated in Quijano's interview
that health insurance benefits for senior residents are not a new program, according
to Radyo Pilipinas. Since all senior persons are automatically covered by PhilHealth
under the terms of the former president Benigno Aquino's RA 10645 proposal.

4. Bias and Agenda:

 Does the article seem to have a particular bias or agenda? Is it promoting a specific
viewpoint or political ideology?

Ericka Nicole L. Jamero

A biassed report may be seen in the first and third examples about the President
Marcos' planned assertion of distinct events. According to the two content
developers, President Marcos is the one who suggested these activities, but in
reality, former President Aquino and Agriculture Secretary Alcala were the ones who
made the proposal. They are spreading misleading information that is completely
out of line with the actual news.

 Are there any advertisements or sponsored content within the article? Consider how
this might influence the information presented.

The videos don't contain any sponsorship content or adverts. It is quite common for
us to distribute news, no matter how minor, and we can't go a day without doing so.
Some people may disseminate the news using articles, videos, and other resources.
While disseminating information, we must exercise caution and ensure that it is
factual and dependable first, as this can result in citizens who lack knowledge.

 Does the article present a balanced view of the topic, or does it only focus on one
side of the argument?

The speaker in both of the content shows a fully biassed report about the topic that
they released online, basing their view on the facts and details that they are aware
of. These individuals disseminate false and untrustworthy material in an attempt to
garner attention from online users and take advantage of those who lack
comprehensive knowledge about a subject. People need to be aware that
disseminating misleading information has the power to completely alter someone's
perspective on a subject or issue. Anyone planning to publish news, videos, articles,
or other content should consider the ramifications of their actions and acknowledge
the mistakes they made that had a large negative impact on society.

5. Critical Thinking:

 Does the news story seem too good (or bad) to be true? Use your intuition and
critical thinking skills to assess the credibility of the information.

Because these articles disseminate misleading information and omit credentials, all
three of the cases are too horrible to be genuine. The first and third pieces of content
propagated the myth that President Marcos advocated certain events, although in
reality, these actions had already taken place prior to President Marcos's
proclamation as the president of the Philippines. Former Agriculture Secretary
Alcala and President Aquino proposed these activities. Using other people's names
to disseminate new information is disrespectful to those who labored to bring these
events to fruition and continue them for the benefit of their community. In the
meantime, the second case seemed too bad to be true because the person on Twitter
is making charges that he either did not witness or did not learn from the person he
is discussing. If we don't have any evidence and if we heard it directly from him, we
shouldn't make up any proverbs or stories that we disseminate. By spreading these
charges, we are harming people's dignity and reputations, which could result in

Ericka Nicole L. Jamero

Grade 12 STEM – SAGITTARIA
MIL – TASK#1
extremely significant consequences. Before disseminating information that isn't real
and correct, we must ask them to confirm it or wait for them to notify us directly.

 Are there any inconsistencies or contradictions within the article? Question

anything that doesn't seem to add up or make logical sense.

In the third example, regarding the senior citizen insurance plans covered by
President Marcos' proposal, children ages 17 and under should also be included.
This is because some children do not receive emotional support from their parents,
and when they become ill and are admitted to the hospital, they often choose not to
tell them because they fear that their parents will prevent them from pursuing their
passions. Additionally, some kids choose to suffer through their illnesses rather than
seeking medical attention if they are homeless or cannot pay the hospital fees. in
order to ease their parents' concerns and permitting them to spend their money on
them.

 What are the potential consequences of sharing or believing this news story?
Consider the impact of spreading misinformation on yourself and others.

The possible repercussions of spreading or accepting these news reports as false

information and misleading them. The effects of disseminating false information to
myself and others include creating a trust issue, believing the false information, and
being completely unaware of the actual events around that issue. These elements
have a profound effect on me and the others, serving as a constant reminder that we
should no longer put up with someone deceiving us.

6. Reflection:

 After evaluating the news article using these criteria, what is your overall
assessment? Do you believe the article is credible or fake?

After using the criteria to evaluate the news stories, I discovered that there are no
limitations when it comes to people spreading false information. It doesn't matter if
doing so already denigrates the person they are highlighting in order to get views
and subscribers in the wrong way.

 What did you learn from this exercise about identifying fake news and assessing the
credibility of online sources?

This exercise taught me how to spot false news and evaluate the reliability of
internet sources. Basically, it taught me to always do our research before accepting
whatever they publish, whether it be in the form of an article, video, or post. If we
believe fake news, we leave ourselves open to manipulation. Therefore, in order for
us to learn new information about what is going on in the world, we must first
ensure that the posts, articles, and videos we are reading or watching are real and
correct.

 How can you apply these critical thinking skills and fact-checking strategies in your
future consumption of news and information online?

I may use these fact-checking techniques and critical thinking abilities in my future
online news and information intake by adding them as my go-to source for any
news, videos, or postings that are validated or have trustworthy sources. By taking
these steps, I can urge anyone in my vicinity to verify whether the information they
are disseminating is true or not. It can serve as an example to those around me of
the need to seek out trustworthy sources before being duped by posts, videos, or
articles.
