DETAILED LESSON IN MATHEMATICS

FOR KINDERGARTEN

I. Objectives

At the end of the 45 minutes’ class discussion, the Kindergarten pupils are expected to
do the following with at least 85% level of accuracy;

a. Able to identify number 8.


b. The child shall be able to count up to 8 objects or pictures/drawings.
c. The child shall be able to demonstrate an understanding of the sense of quantity of 8.

2. Prayer

Before we begin our lesson today, let us pray


first. So, everybody please stand up.

➢ All students are expected to bow their heads


to pray.

3. Attendance Checking

➢ Are there any absentees in today's class?


➢ Okay, very good.

➢ No, ma’am.

➢ Students are expected to arrange their chairs


as the class begins.
4. Setting of Standards/Incentive Chart

➢ Before you sit, please observe, if there is any


waste, under your table, pick it up and throw it ➢ (Animals).

These 3 animals here represent your groups. We will


be moving the food that these animals eat, everytime
you answer correctly and participate well, I will move
the food of each animal. The group with the nearest
food in the animal wins.

5. Motivation

This morning, let’s sing a song entitled “Little


Indian”. Do you know the song? Let me sing first,
one…little two…little three..little indian..four little
five..little six..little indian..seven little eight little nine
little indian..ten little indian boys…,one…little two…
little three..little indian..four little five..little six..little
indian..seven little eight little nine little indian..ten little
indian girls..

So, let’s sing together ... .one…little two…little

Very good, so how, you may take your seat….

Concrete Stage:

The teacher will show the real bananas and make a


storyline about the Monkey eating the banana.
1. Who likes to eat bananas? (monkey).
2. How about you, have you tried to eat ➢ (Monkey).
bananas? ➢ Yes, teacher.
3. How does it taste?
4. Is it important for us to eat fruits such as ➢ It tastes sweet.
bananas? Why? ➢ So that we are healthy, ma’am.
5. How many bananas did the monkey eat?
-very good! ➢ Eight bananas ma’am.

B. Activity

Unlocking of Difficulties:

Semi-Concrete Stage:

One Sunday morning, the warm sun came up and


POP, out of the egg came a very hungry caterpillar.
He started looking for some food.
On Monday, he ate 8 water apples. But he was still
hungry.
On Tuesday, he ate 8 guavas, but he was still
hungry.
On Wednesday, he ate 8 bananas, but he was still
hungry.
On Thursday, he ate 8 red apples, but he was still
hungry.
On Friday, he ate 8 mangoes, but he was still
hungry.
On Saturday, he had a stomach ache!

The next day was Sunday again. Now, he wasn’t


hungry anymore-and he wasn’t a little caterpillar
anymore. Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon,
pushed his way out and….
He became a beautiful butterfly!

Now, we have a group activity. I will divide you into


two groups.

Group 1

Fruit Tree (Activity)


Direction: Put the fruits on the three with the
quantities of 8. Count how many fruits each tree has
based on the story “The very hungry Caterpillar.”
Group 2

Clip the fruit that the caterpillar ate based on the


story. Count how many fruits the caterpillar ate.
C. ANALYSIS

D. ABSTRACTION

Abstract:

Now, I have here cut out shapes.

The teacher will show the circle and triangle


shapes.

How many circles do I have?

How many triangles do I have?


Today, we learned the number that comes after 7 is
number 8. Now, let us try to count again the fruits
that the caterpillar ate. This time let us write number
8 using the finger on air, follow me. Do you already
know how to count 1 to 8?
-very good!

E. APPLICATION ➢ Yes, teacher.

Each group will be given counters. The teacher will


let the pupils pick and count the counters up to the
quantity of 8.
IV. EVALUATION

(Worksheets will be provided)

Directions: Count, identify, trace, write, color


number 8.

V. ASSIGNMENT

Directions: Practice writing number 8 at home.


Bring popsicle sticks tomorrow. (Will be used as
counters).
