WATER-POWERED CAR: ENERGY TRANSFORMATION shown in the picture.

Group No. _________ Grade & Section: __________

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. It
may be transformed from one form into another, but the total amount of energy never changes. Energy
can be changed from one form to another such as chemical energy into mechanical energy, heat
energy, and many more.
Energy transformation occurs everywhere always. It can be observed at sunrise. As the light
of the sun reaches the Earth, plants absorb it to make their own food. Light energy from the sun is 3.2. Pierce the center of your turbine and insert a wooden stick. Secure it with glue to
transformed into chemical energy stored in plants. In cooking, the chemical energy of the Liquefied prevent easy damage.
Petroleum Gas (LPG) is transformed into light and heat to cook food. Other examples where energy
conversion takes place are in a battery-operated car, waterfalls, roller coaster, cleaning the house,
walking, running, watching television, eating or chewing food, calling through cellular phones, driving a
car, and many more.
Objectives:
At the end of the activity, you should be able to:
 construct a simple water powered car
 demonstrate mechanical energy transformations 3.3. Attach the turbine to the frame of your car.
Materials Needed:
- 3 old CDs - Glue gun
- 1 big cap (takip) of plastic bottle - Glue sticks
- 10 small caps (takip) of plastic bottle - Scissors
- 1 1.5 plastic bottle - Cutter
- Wooden sticks or popsicle sticks - Straws
- Used pen case 3.4. Place the two CDs to the both sides of the frame of the car. Secure them with
glue sticks to prevent easy damage.
Procedure:
A. CONSTRUCTION OF THE WATER POWERED CAR
1. In order to make the WHEEL of your water-powered car, pierce (butasin) three plastic
bottle caps and attach them to the CDs using your glue gun.

3.5. Place the other CD to the front frame of the car. This will serve as the front wheel.
Secure it with a glue stick to prevent easy damage.

2. For the TURBINE, using your glue gun, attach the 6 small plastic bottle caps around the
larger plastic bottle cap. Make sure that the six small caps are evenly distributed.

B. WATER RESERVOIR
3. For the BODY of the water-powered car:
1. Cut a 1.5-liter plastic bottle in half.
FINAL OUTPUT

2. Then, make a hole the size of a pen in its cap. Cut a pen case in half and insert it into the
hole of the cap using a glue stick. Attach the cap with the pen case back to the tip of the
bottle.
