Noise Levels in Places of Work and the Allowable Period for Exposition
1. The noise level in a workplace must not exceed 85 decibels for an exposure of 8 hours a day 5 days a week and a one
time exposure must not exceed 115 decibels.
2. Noise should be measured at different distances from the sources starting within 1 m of the sources & then increasing the
distance by 10 m intervals or so.
3. The distance at which the noise level falls below the TLV i.e, 85 dba should be demarcated & Signs / Barriers should be
placed to indicate that hearing protection is required beyond that point
