INTRODUCTION:
Gastón Acurio is a Peruvian writer, businessman and chef. He was born in Lima, on
October 30, 1967. His parents are Gastón Acurio Velarde and Jesusa Jaramillo
Razury. He studied Law at the Complutense University - Madrid. Shortly after, he
dropped out of university and began his studies at Cordon Bleu-Paris to dedicate
himself to cooking.
BODY:
Over the course of his career he achieved many achievements.
In Paris he met his wife Astrid Gutsche with whom he returned to Peru. They opened
their first restaurant "Astrid y Gastón" in 1994. At first they only offered classic
French food, then they implemented Peruvian inputs and evolved local cuisine.
Shortly after, they opened a branch of "Astrid y Gastón" in Chile, managing to be
named the best restaurant in the country in 2008. In addition, their restaurant
"Astrid y Gastón" won the most important gastronomic ranking in the world. A year
later he received the highest climber award, for having climbed the most positions
in a single year. That same year, Restaurant Magazine chooses Astrid & Gastón as
the Best Restaurant in Latin America. It should be noted that Gaston wrote his first
book "Peru, a Culinary Adventure" in 2002.
CONCLUSION:
Gastón currently faces many challenges such as prestige and internationalizing
Peruvian gastronomy, and directing the direction of the restaurants towards social,
economic and environmental responsibility
