Mangalore, May 22: Eight people escaped the crash of an Indian Airlines plane with
166 people on board. The plane overshot a hilltop runway in Mangalore Bajpe Airport
and plunged over a cliff. At least some of the survivors managed to jump from the
wreckage just before the plane burst into flames. Firefighters struggled to reach the
smoking wreckage of the plane. Many of the dead were strapped into their seats, their
bodies burned beyond recognition. Relatives of the victims, who had been waiting at the
airport for the plane’s arrival, stood near the wreckage weeping. The police and forensic
experts are carrying on the investigation. The airport authority at Mangalore said,
accidents of this type, known as ‘runway excursions’ are fairly common but majority end
without injury or damage.

68 DIED INCLUDING FIVE INNDIAN

Kathmandu, 16th January: At least 68 people were killed after a Yeti Airlines’ ATR-72
aircraft crashed in Nepal’s Pokhara at around 11 am yesterday. The plane took off from
Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport at 10:30 am. Then it crashed into a gorge
while trying to land at the new airport of Pokhara. Reports said that the plane carried 72
people- 68 passengers and 4 crew members.
Emergency rescue operation was currently conducted. Rescuers said 68 bodies had been
found and a search was on for the four missing people. Among the casualties, there
were five Indians also. Local media reported that the aircraft had taken a wider turn
while attempting to land, which may have caused the accident.
The Nepal government decided to announce a public holiday on January 16 to mourn
the crash victims. The government also formed a five members commission of inquiry to
probe the plane crash.
50 Killed In An Air-Crash

Kolkata, Sep 3, 2020 : 48 passengers and two members of the crew died when an
Indian Airlines Kolkata-Delhi bound Boeing carrying 110 passengers and eight
members of the crew crashed before landing. The plane was on its way from Kolkata to
Delhi. Just before landing its direction was changed and it hit a gigantic tree. One of the
wheels broke and the aircraft crashed from its middle catching fire instantly.

Firefighters rescued the survivors who were severely burnt and sent to the nearest
hospital. The dead bodies were so violently burnt that it was impossible to identify. The
Minister of Civil Aviation arrived the spot without delay and ordered a judicial enquiry of
the accident. He spoke to the reporters and nullified any possibility of sabotage.

The Minister announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lacs to the widow and 2 lacs each to
the nearest relation of the deceased and 3 lacs each to the persons injured in the crash.

April 21, 2022; Kanpur: It was 20 April 2022, Saturday at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh the
massive rail accident occurred as the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express derailed, and
13 people got injured.

It was at 12:30 pm when the train was boarded by 900 passengers and it was in Rooma
in the Maharajpur area, which is 12 km from Kanpur where the accident took place.
There were no casualties found later in the incident.

The train has 12 coaches which include 10 passenger coaches, 1 pantry car, and the
later the power coach. The train was at the speed of 100km/hour when the incident took
place and major coaches deflected which include S8, S9, B1-B5, A1, A2, HA1, a pantry
car, and an SLR (luggage bogie) among them few were AC coaches, sated by the
railway authority.

It was noted that the train was 1 hour 12 minutes late from its original time. Further, no
cases of serious injuries and no death were reported. The loose coupling of the train
was stated to be the reason for the accident.

The police officials including the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police, and
other officials reported the site of the accident. National Disaster Response Force
(NDRF) team having 45 persons were also seen rescuing the stuck passengers.

Accident Relief Train (ART) and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) were
arranged for the injured passenger and a special train was arranged to shift the
passengers from Poorva Express and at 5:45 the assigned train left for New Delhi.

Immediately the restoration work was taken off by the CPRO North Central Railways
which said, it will take a few hours for the completion of the work.

Sudden Fire Outbreak in Telangana Express, No Causalities Found

August 30, 2019; Faridabad: It was the fine morning of 29 August 2019, Thursday at
7:43 am in Asaoti station in Faridabad, Haryana where a tremendous fire break out was
seen in two of the coaches of the Hyderabad-New Delhi Telangana Express.

The train was running at that time with the flames on it, further, the situation was taken
under control. All the passengers are safe, reported the railway authority.

It was Hyderabad-New Delhi Telangana Express with train number 12723 was seen to
emit flames and smoke of fire in between Asaoti and Ballabgarh so was stopped there
immediately, and it was later seen that the fumes were released from the wheels of the
ninth bogie from its rear end.

The gateman was the one to notice this first and inform the rail driver and the
authorities. Immediately the fire team, fire engines were called at the site to extinguish
the fire, lately, the two coaches were separated from the train and the passengers of the
burnt coaches were shifted to the remaining coaches and the train left for its destination
to New Delhi railway station safely.

No cases of serious injuries and deaths were seen, said the Chief PRO of the Northern
Railway. The reason for the fire is yet undiscovered.

After the incident, the upward and the downward trains were stopped and the way was
found busy for three hours, Nizamuddin-Mathura route. The Northern railway authority
deviated some trains from their scheduled route and some trains passing the same
route reached their destination after the scheduled time.

locality due to which people suffering from the diseases like malaria, Dengue and typhoid. If
we want a disease free life in our area, we have to dispose of that waste every day. The
citizens of the area have to suffer a lot as even our Municipal Corporation is ignoring this
issue.
Also the garbage hips smell foul everyday. The people passing from the roads have to face
it. The street dogs, cows and other animals eat the spoiled food along with the plastics. The
street animals will be in danger due to that. I hereby request the municipal corporation to
understand our problem and pay attention to this serious issue. I would be happy if you
published this issue in your newspaper, so that everyone will notice it and take action on it.

Sir,
I shall be highly obliged to you if you kindly allow me a little space in your esteemed
daily to express my concern over the irregular clearance of garbage in our locality.

I convey my displeasure through your esteemed daily caused by the irregular clearance
of garbage in our locality. Irregular clearance of garbage of _________ (name of the
municipality) municipal area has made our life miserable. Garbage is not removed
regularly in our area. As a result, it is piled up and scattered on roads badly. The
uncollected garbage stinks and the foul smell fills the air. The rotten garbage is a breeding
ground of mosquitoes and flies. When they are all around, diseases are not far behind. A
few cases of cholera and malaria have already been reported in the local media. Our
appeals to the municipality were in vain.

I hope this will draw the prompt attention of the concerned authorities through your
daily to arrange for the regular clearance of garbage in our locality.
