A RECKLESS DONKEY

A donkey and a rabbit were good friends. One evening they were looking for some
food. After walking for some time, they finally found a watermelon field. After making
sure that there was nobody around, they went into the field. The donkey directly ate a
juicy watermelon. He finished it so quickly. Then he recklessly went to another
watermelon and ate it. He ate a lot of watermelon until he felt full.
“Oh, I feel like I want to sing a song”, said the donkey merrily.
“No, you are going to wake the farmer up”, warned the rabbit. But the reckless
donkey did not listen to the rabbit. He started to sing a song loudly. Knowing that he
could not stop the donkey, the rabbit left the donkey alone in the watermelon field.
The donkey kept singing and singing, until the farmer came up to him and caught
the donkey who did not realized his coming.. He tied the donkey to te fence. The rabbit
was hiding behind a big tree watching what happenned to his friend. When the farmer
left the field, the rabbit released the donkey. The donkey realized his mistake and
thanked the rabbit.

PRABU DEWATA CENGKAR

Prabu Dewata Cengkar, who was the king of Medang Kamulan of east Java liked to
kidnap people. He liked to eat human flesh for meal. His assistant, Patih Jugul Muda,
always helped the king. He hunted people from one village to another village to be
served to his king. This made the people of Medang Kamulan moved to another safer
region.
There was only one brave man left in Medang Kamulan. His name was Aji Saka. He
rode his horse to the palace to challenge Prabu Dewata Cengkar. Arriving at the palace,
he met the kanibal king with his soldiers.
“You can eat my flesh if you are able to kill me”, Aji Saka said. “But if I am able to
defeat you, you must give me the land as wide as my turban”. Parabu Dewata Cengkar
agreed it. They soon involed in the horrible battle.After couple days of battle, Aji Saka
was able to defeat Prabu Dewata Cengkar. As a result, Aji Saka was allowed to expand his
turban for the present.
When the king was measuring the land, Aji Saka’s turban kept expanding, covering
the whole Medang Kamulan region. Finally, the turban blew strong wind that made the
king was thrown to the south sea. He was drowned in the deep blue sea.

TORNADO
A tornado is a violently rotating column of air which is contact with both of
comulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, a comulus cloud base and surface of the earth.
Tornados come in many sizes but are typically in the form of visible condensation funnel,
whose narrow end touches the earth and is often encircled by cloud of debris.
Most tornadoes have wind speeds of 110 mph (177km/hour) or less, are about 250
feet (75 meter) across and travel a few miles (several kilometers) before disappear.
Some reach wind speeds of more than 300mph (480km/h), stretch more than a mile (1.6
km) across, and stay on the ground for dozens of miles (more than 100 km).
Although tornadoes have been observed on every continent except Antratica, most
occur in United States. They also commonly occur in southern Canada, southcentral and
eastern Asia, east-central South America, southern Africa, north-western and central
Europe, Italy, western and south-eastern Australia, and New Zealand.
 THE SIAU SCOPS OWL

The Siau scops owl (otus siaonensis) belongs to the owl family. People usually
call it Celepuk Siau and can only be found in Sangihe. North Sulawasi, Indonesia.
Celepuk Siau is a small species of owl. It is only 17cm long. The eyes just like other
owls, are big and round. The fur is blackish brown. The bird are active at night and spend
the daytime resting. They hunt insects.
According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) the birds
are critically endangered. They are losing their habibat because of illegal logging.

PITCHER PLANTS
Pitcher plants are several different carnivorous plants, native to South East Asia,
which have most mysterious leaves structure known as pitfall traps and feature special
digestive enzymes. A Pitfall trap is a prey-trapping mechanism featuring a deep cavity
filled with digestive fluid enzymes.
The plants have an attractive deep red color and smell. The attractive smell of
pitcher plants helps it to easily catch the prey which is attracted by their smells. The
insects and small animals are pitcher plants’ main preys. According to some observation
of pitcher plants’ behavior, it is said to be some species of pitcher plant can even
consume mice.

He's never far away…
 King Fergus and Queen Elinor ruled the kingdom of DunBroch in Scotland. They had
three sons and one daughter, the beautiful princess Merida. All four children were
mischievous.
Queen Elinor tried to teach Merida how to behave like a perfect princess. However
Merida liked to step away from the palace to practice with her bow and arrow. She was a
skilled archer.
One night, the queen announced that three ethnic were coming to visit. Each would
present a suitor to compete for Merida’s hand in marriage. Merida was horrified. “I won’t
go through with it!” she shouted. To Merida’s worry, the suitors arrived as planned.
Merida sat waiting on her throne for the archery contest to begin. She knew she could
handle a bow and arrow far better than suitors could. After the suitors taken their shots,
Merida moved onto the field. The queen yelled for her to stop, but Merida didn’t listen.
She fired her arrows and hit each target dead center. She had won. Now she wouldn’t
have to marry anyone.
