(Juliana Cardona):
Historical Context and Determining Factors:
The historical context of the era, distinctly marked by the Vietnam War, the
fervent struggle for civil rights, and unparalleled cultural upheaval, served as
the fertile ground from which the seeds of the hippie movement sprouted.
Opposition to the war, the pursuit of racial equality, and the compelling need
to discover novel forms of artistic expression emerged as decisive factors that
propelled the movement into existence.
( Maria Jose Celis ):
Hippie Personality:
The persona of a hippie was characterized by a serene and tolerant attitude,
underpinned by idealistic and experimental principles. Their philosophy
ardently championed individual freedom, artistic expression, and a spiritual
connection with the universe. Through practices such as meditation,
vegetarianism, and the exploration of psychedelic substances, hippies sought
not only to expand their consciousness but also to delve into uncharted realms
of heightened awareness.

Music as Hippie Expression:
Music, acting as a fundamental pillar for the expression of hippie ideals,
witnessed the emergence of iconic bands like The Grateful Dead, Jefferson
Airplane, and Jimi Hendrix, all of whom created transcendental and
psychedelic sounds that seamlessly wove themselves into the very fabric of the
movement. Festivals, with Woodstock standing out prominently,
metamorphosed into not only musical gatherings but also cultural phenomena
that encapsulated the very essence of the hippie utopia.
