Art History
As an artist myself, I have come to learn more about art history since I was still
working my way into pursuing this hobby. An art is a silent picturesque form that gives
message in a form where everyone can interpret it in their own ways, in which I find
quite thrilling since I am also a person of a few words, using it as a way to convey my
feelings.
Art history is the study of visual arts in which it includes the development of
painting, sculpture, architecture, drawing, and many other forms of art. There are many
forms of art which includes realism which is a detailed depiction of nature or
contemporary art, painting in which can be done using acrylics, watercolors, or oil
paints, novels from great writers who recorded history in a form of a story, and theatre
where the actors are highly great at using expressions to deliver the story in a form of
scenes and actions on stage.
As time pass, new forms and styles emerged, from traditional painting to digital
arts which is a result of human’s continuous progression with technology. It is quite
thrilling knowing that with these gadgets, we could create or draw anywhere or anytime
we want without needing to carry large canvasses or ruin our clothes with painting. Still,
it is a matter of preference with the artist, if they want to pursue traditional art, they draw
using paper and pencils, it’s the same as the other way around.
These art from the past has been passed down from generations to generations
in different forms and structures, improving and influencing people, speaking for the
mass in a form of art piece in which only those who truly observe can understand. It is a
silent message and a step towards revolution, like what Juan Luna did as he created his
piece called “Spoliarium”.
It’s different depending on the artist, but as we all had to know especially to those
who are not well-versed in art, not all art needs an explanation. It is a way for the artist
to express their emotions and as an audience, all we have to do is to appreciate and try
to understand their masterpiece. It is a gateway to the artist’s creative minds and
emotions, whether it was in the past and even now at our present time.
