genre. The story will be read in front of

“If you have any questions kindly raise

2. Analysis (The teacher will proceed with the
discussion)

➢ Fiction, literature created from

the imagination, not
presented as fact, though it
may be based on a true story
or situation.

➢ Types of literature in the

fiction genre include
the novel, short story,
and novella.

➢ The word is from the

Latin fictiō, “the act of making,
fashioning, or molding.”

“Do you know any fiction stories?” “The three mousekateers!”

“Barbie!”
“Jack and the Beanstalk!”

“Very good class! Seems like you

already have an idea what fiction is”

“Now let me continue the discussion” (The pupils will listen)

➢ Nonfiction is literature that,

regardless of the subject matter,
has a simple goal: to provide
information.

➢ It should be based on facts and

conclusions of the author’s
research or expertise, as opposed
to the creativity of the author’s
imagination.

➢ Examples are a true crime story,

news or articles

“Do you know any nonfiction stories?” “Rizal’s story?”

“That is correct, the story of Rizal was

based on facts and evidences so it is
considered as nonfiction”

“Afterall, he is a part of our history and

our national hero”
3. Abstraction “Now you finally grasped the meaning “Based on imagination!”
of fiction and non-fiction. Again, what is
fiction?”

“Very good! Now what is nonfiction?” “Stories based on facts and evidences!”

“Great job everyone!”

4. Application Now please look at the screen and

identify if it’s fiction or nonfiction

“Fiction!”

“Very good! This is a story entitled

harry potter”

“Alright how about this one?” “Nonfiction?”

“You’re wrong but that’s okay! This

work of Rizal is a fictional-historical
novel”
5. Generalization “Okay class, I know that all of you
learned a lot and listened attentively”

“Can anyone summarize the lesson for (Everyone will raise their hands”
today?”
“I learned today that fiction is the story we
made with our creative minds while
nonfiction is reality based and evidences”
