Introduction

Arrangement questions usually involve a group of objects or people

placed in a set pattern according to the instructions given in the
question.
Types of Arrangement

There are three main types of arrangements:

1. Linear
2. Circular
3. Matrices
Linear

In linear arrangement problems we are generally given a set of

information about positioning of different elements with respect to
other elements. This positioning is in a straight line or in a row.
Linear

Example- Six members of a panel are sitting in a row. E is to the left

of B but on the right of A. F is on the right of B but is on the left of G
who is to the left of C.

What will be the order?

Circular

Circular arrangement is slightly more complex as here we do not have

any ends. Also, the directions can mean different things depending on
where the person is facing. Circular arrangement also includes
arrangement related to rectangle and hexagon.
Circular

Six persons A, B, C, D, E and F are standing in a circle. Only B is

between D and C. Only A is between E and C. F is to the right of D.
Who is between A and F?
Circular

K , L , M , P , Q , R , S and T are seated around a square table in such a way that four sit at the
corners and 4 sit at middle seats. Those who sit at corners face out side and those who sit at
middle face towards center. P is 3rd to the right of S and P is facing towards center. Q is 3rd to the
left of M but M is not sitting on middle seats. One person sits between Q and R. R is not neighbor
of M and T is facing towards the center. K is not the neighbor of R.
Matrix Arrangement

Matrix arrangements work at two or more levels. They require a table

or matrix to be solved.
