The bar chart illustrates the percentage of renewable energy in total energy supplied in
Australia, Sweden, Iceland, and Turkey between 1997 and 2010.

Overall, Sweden and Iceland witnessed an upward trend in the proportion of renewable energy
generated over the years, while the opposite was true for Australia and Turkey. It is noticeable
that Iceland ranked as the leading renewable energy producer in all three years.

In 1997, Iceland showed the highest rate of renewable energy produced at around 45%, the
figure for Turkey just under the figure for Iceland at about 10%. At the bottom were Australia
and Sweden, as renewable energy only accounted for under 10% of the energy supply of these
countries.

In 2010, Iceland’s renewable energy recorded a considerable climb to 70% of the total supply.
In addition, the production of renewable energy in Sweden is also growing, although the
increase was trivial, under 10%. In contrast, the percentage of energy produced from
renewable sources in Australia experienced a decrease of approximately 5%. Turkey was the
only country with a fluctuation figure, but at the end of the period slightly fell to over 30%.
