It was concluded that in despite of public views concerning the misuse of social media among students

in the society, most of the school students were interested to use social media positively for their
academic purpose. This indicates that the social media impacts the academic performance of the
students. Therefore the social media contributes to improve the academic performance of the students.
However, results of ANOVA showed that there is significant differences between academic achievement
and impact of social media among Students.

Based on findings of Sivakumar, R., (2020), it indicated that while there are prevailing public concerns
regarding student misuse of social media, a majority of school students exhibit a positive interest in
utilizing social media for academic purposes. This underscores the influence of social media on the
academic performance of students and suggests that social media can contribute to enhancing their
academic achievements. Nevertheless, the results of the ANOVA analysis highlighted significant
differences in academic performance based on the varying impacts of social media among students.

on them and had knowledge of the existence of many media sites. The study further confirmed that
most of the respondents visit their social media sites using their phones and spend between thirty
minutes to three hours per day. In addition the study revealed that the use of social media sites had
affected academic performance of the respondents negatively and that there was direct relationship
between the use of social media sites and academic performance.

spelling, late submission of assignment, less study time and poor academic performance due to the

experienced improvement in their readings skills as a result of participation on social media networks.

social media networks.

respondents was for the purpose of socializing and chatting. Additionally, a significant portion of
respondents reported experiencing adverse effects such as deteriorated grammar and spelling, delayed
assignment submissions, decreased study time, and lower academic performance attributed to their
extensive engagement with social media platforms. The research also highlighted a concerning level of
addiction to social media networks among students. Nonetheless, some individuals indicated an
enhancement in their reading skills through their involvement on social media. Moreover, participants
utilized these platforms for exchanging ideas, engaging in discussions, and even sharing examination
questions amongst themselves.

The result showed that students frequently engage in social media in order to make new friends,
research about their assignments and source for other educational materials, stay up to dates with
latest trends and news. The finding also showed that students spend an average, 2 to 4 hours daily on
social media. There was no significant influence of frequency of social media use by students on their
mean academic achievements in Accounting; however, gender of students was found to have a
significant influence on students' mean academic achievement in Accounting.

their average academic performance in Accounting, it was observed that the gender of students
significantly influenced their mean academic achievements in the field of Accounting.

real effect of social media sites. In recent time it encourage the carrier and future of students’ .The
social media sites like Facebook, twitter, Google and Skype capture the attention of students for study
and affecting positively their academic Grade points.

observed to boost students' careers and futures. Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, and Skype
are seen to engage students in their studies and contribute positively to their academic grades.
