WHAT IS HAZING?

Hazing is any behavior that, regardless of a


person's willingness to join or participate
in a group that degrades, abuses,
humiliates, or puts them in danger.
WHY IS THERE HAZING?

It is believed by others that it’s an effective way to


teach respect and establish discipline and loyalty
within the group.
DOES IT HARM
PEOPLE?
Harms that Hazing Brings:
1. Physical, emotional, and/or
mental instability
2. Sleep deprivation
3. Post-traumatic stress syndrome
4. Decline in grades and coursework

5. Relationships with friends, significant

•This Act penalizes those who will go too far
during initiation rites wherein the “applicant” is
subjected to severe physical and emotional pain
and suffering.
