and for religious activity
- Our ancestors sought to make an improvised symphonic band using the natural resources available in their
locality because not everybody could afford to buy an instrument of their own

VOCAL MUSIC

2. Folk songs are songs written by the folk and are sung to accompany daily activities
- the mood can be sentimental, playful and humorous
- begins in one key and ends in the same key
- learned through rote

Sarungbanggi is a folk song in the Bicol region in a moderate tempo.


Ili-ili Tulog Anay is a Visayan lullaby folk song that brings baby to sleep
Kordero ng Diyos is a liturgical music sung loudly during the Catholic mass
Pastores a Belen is a devotional music sung during the Christmas season
Pabasa ng Pasyon is a Philippine narrative song with a dramatic theme and portrays the life, death, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Ikat – red color
Tattooing is a traditional form of art of the Kalinga
Ling-ling O and dinumug (amulets) – serve as fertility symbols worn around the neck

CAGAYAN VALLEY
Vakul – is a headgear from Batanes and worn by Ivatan women to protect them from the sun and rain
Bakwat of Nueva Viscaya – is a belt worn by mothers after giving birth

CENTRAL LUZON
Pampanga is known to be the Christmas capital of the Philippines because of its famous colorful lanterns with
intricate designs and series of lights that are in sync with music
Bulacan’s Singkaban is the local term for bamboo arches designed with kayas or wood shaving
Pampanga lantern.
