ANNEX – PRESENTATION BY STRUCTURAL ENGINEER FOR AGEING BUILDING(S) BUILT

BEFORE 1989

As part of the process for submission of the report to the Commissioner of Building Control, we would like
the Structural Engineer to conduct in person, a presentation on the results of inspection to us at our office. The
presentation should preferably be in PowerPoint with one hardcopy of the presentation materials to be
submitted to the Processing Officer. We would also require the building owner and/or, MCST and/or, Facilities
Managers/Managing Agent to attend the session too.

The agenda for the presentation would be as follows: -

(a) Presentation by Structural Engineer

• Knowledge of existing structural system and layout
• Review history of the works and maintenance regime/defects
• Demonstrate compliance with the enhancements to guidelines on PSI
• Identification of structural defects and unauthorised works1
• Professional assessment and recommendation of appropriate follow up actions (include any tests
to determine the health status of the building due to any identified defects)

The acceptance of the submission is based on the basis that the guidelines on PSI have been complied with.
The structural engineer shall provide justifications in his/her visual inspection report that the inspection
coverage is representative of the building’s condition. He/she can illustrate the areas that have been inspected
on a layout plan and provide a summary of inspected area e.g., listing of units that were inspected.
