Chapter 3

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

This chapter will utilize a quantitative research design, which will involve the

collection and analysis of numeral data. The data will be collected through surveys and

standardized tests administered to senior high school students.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The research usually employed the descriptive method to gathering information in

this research and to define and understand the effect of social media on self-esteem of

Grade 12 students. This method is used to collect data for the researchers to conduct a

survey to gather data about differently effects of social media on self-esteem.

In this study, the research design will provide concrete data to gather the

information that will help the researchers to find the needing data to perform the study.

Descriptive Method will serve as the foundation of the study because through this

research design the researchers will come up with concrete information that will help

them to perform the study without needing to do follow up questions.

DATA GATHERING TOOLS

The tools for data that is needed in this research instruments. They include

questioners and survey, they create a structured survey or questioners with specific

questions related to social media usage patterns, self-esteem levels, and any

correlations perceived by the students.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

For this gathering data procedure, the researchers kindly asked the respondents to

answer the survey questioners about the effect of social media on self-esteem among

Observe students’ behavior on social media platforms with their consent and

ensuring privacy. Note interactions, comments, and content shared to understand the

context of their online activities. They can employ a mixed-methods approach involving

survey questionnaire with a mix of quantitative questions. Include questions about social

media usage patterns, self-esteem levels, comparison behaviors, and emotional well-

being.

PREPARATIONAL QUESTIONERS

The preparation questionnaire is designed to investigate the influence of social

media on the self-esteem of Grade 12 students at San Vicente National High School. By

gathering data on students' social media usage patterns, including the platforms they

use and the time spent online, the questionnaire aims to uncover how these interactions

impact their self-esteem.

ADMINISTRATION AND RETRIEVAL

The administration of the questionnaire on the effects of social media on self-esteem

among Grade 12 students at San Vicente National High School involves a thoughtful

and structured approach. Retrieving and analyzing this data, the research aims to

identify correlations between specific social media behaviors and self-esteem

outcomes, providing a nuanced understanding of how online interactions impact the

self-esteem of Grade 12 students at San Vicente National High School.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATION

They Studying the effects of social media on self-esteem among Grade 12 students

at San Vicente National High School are paramount, this ethical considerations extend

to the methodology and interpretation of results. the research process, allowing

researchers to adapt their approach as needed and uphold the dignity and rights of the

participants. When examining the impact of social media on the self-esteem of Grade

12 students, ethical considerations play a crucial role in understanding the potential

risks and responsibilities involved. That Grade 12 students may not fully understand the

implications of sharing personal information online. Educators should emphasize the

importance of digital privacy and empower students to make informed decisions about

their online presence.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

The following statistical procedures were used to interpret the data gathered from

the respondents of the study

1. Simple Percentage. The demographic profile variable of the respondents in terms of

their age, gender and strand. Determine the percentage with the following formula.

2.Weigted Mean: To compute for weighted mean of the responses in the questionnaire

by the respondents. Using their formula for the weighted mean as following formula:
