Welcome to Strathmore. It is with great enthusiasm that I write to inform you that you have been admitted
provisionally to the Strathmore Institute of Mathematical Sciences (SIMS).

We, hereby confirm your application to the BSc. in Statistics and Data Science full-time course, scheduled to
commence on Wednesday 27 September 2023.

Kindly equate your high school qualification to the Kenya equivalent through the Kenya National
Qualifications Authority (KNQA). You can send your application through the KNQA portal:

Your provisional admission will stand nullified if the documents are not received by 29 September 2023 and/or if
you do not meet the minimum entry requirements i.e., a mean aggregate B plain (B) or its equivalent including
mathematics and English OR an IB Diploma with an average of 34 points and grade six in both Mathematics and
English.

Admission is valid for as long as there is a vacancy and subject to paying a minimum deposit of
KES. 80, 000 towards the course fees on or before 27 September 2023. The full fee for the first semester
is KES. 262,477.

Clearance to attend classes will be subject to presenting electronically (email) to enroll@strathmore.edu on


or before 27 September 2023 your admission letter, bank deposit slip, completed and signed honour code,
dress code and medical forms, bio-data page of your passport, one passport size photograph and your
original certificate of good conduct from country of origin.

Parents or sponsors are encouraged to make the bank deposits themselves and to pay the semester’s fee at the
beginning of each semester. Fees can be paid through an instalment payment plan subject to an instalment levy of
1% per month. The instalment forms are available from the School and should be filled within the first week of
each semester.

The four-year course fee is KES. 1,906,100. Full payment of the course fees upon registration will attract a
discount on the tuition fee only as follows respectively (4 years – 14%, 3 years – 13%, 2 years – 12% and
1 year – 8%).

Please note:

1) Length of the programme: The normal duration of the programme is four years (eight semesters).
2) You will receive new laptop upon registration to aid blended learning and access to e-resources.
3) You will be required to enrol for the English proficiency course at the beginning of the semester. For
enrolment, kindly send an email to writingcentre@strathmore.edu.
4) Kindly state your student admission number when depositing money into any Strathmore University bank
account. The bank requires the admission number to credit the student’s account. Attached are our bankers’
details.
5) Cash payments are not accepted in the University. Bankers’ cheques are accepted. If you wish to pay through
credit transfer, please contact our cash office to effect payment.
6) The fees stated may be subject to review and should this occur you will be notified in good time.
7) A fees refund policy is attached for your guidance and necessary action.
8) Students who do not adhere to the dress code will be dropped out of the course.
9) The University’s financial aid office provides students with information on all available internal and external
sources of financial assistance (including HELB) in order to meet their educational costs. For more
information, contact financialaid@strathmore.edu.
10) For accommodation requirements we have a list of privately run hostels (see the attached list), which are
approved by the University. If you wish to apply to any of them, write or telephone directly to the addresses
given.
11) Information about the University, which you should be familiar with, is contained in the Student Handbook,
which is available from the Course Administrator.
12) All photography and videography taken during your four-year course will be used as University
Communications materials.
13) An Administrative fee of KES. 2,800 per semester will be charged to International students. All International
students studying in Kenya are required to get the Kenya pupil's pass (KPP) from the Immigration office,
Kenya. The KPP is the international students’ study visa and the University will assist you to obtain one. For
