1-Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS)
• The OBS provides an organizational rather than a task-based perspective of
the project. The hierarchical structure of the OBS allows the aggregation
(rollup) of project information to higher levels.
• It is also used to define the responsibilities for project management, cost
reporting, billing, budgeting and project control.
• . By breaking the project into a clear process of assigned tasks, milestones,
and deadlines, project managers can direct their teams more efficiently
and react to issues with greater agility.
1-Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS)
• For example, here the construction company
OBS is showing the managers in different
branches (London , Paris , Munich)and then
listed each of them according to the chain of
commands in primavera as show in figure (1.1).
• The Organizational Breakdown Structure
(OBS) defines how people within a
company are organized and what rights
and access they have within projects.

Figure 1.1
2-Enterprise Project Structure (EPS)
• EPS represents the highest structure of the
project group hierarchy in Primavera

• . In Primavera, EPS can be further divided into

sub-project groups as needed.
• The EPS can be subdivided into as many levels
or nodes as needed to represent work at your
organization.
• Nodes at the highest, or root, level might
represent divisions within your company, project
phases, site locations, or other major groupings
that meet the needs of your organization;
projects always represent the lowest level of the
hierarchy. Every project must be included in an
EPS node.
2-Enterprise Project Structure (EPS)
• EPS nodes at the higher level might represent
divisions within your company, project phases,
site locations, or other major groupings based
on your company’s needs and business
practices.
• the enterprise project structure (EPS) is also a
hierarchical based structure that represents how
your projects are organized.
• for example here , each branch has its own
projects listed according to their type . for further
explanation . the London office has 4 projects (
urban planning , highway and bridges,
infrastructure, and construction.) which makes it
very easy to understand Without complications
as shown in figure (2.1)

3-Work Breakdown Structure(WBS)
• WBS is “a deliverable-oriented hierarchical decomposition of the work to be
executed by the project team to accomplish the project objectives and
create the required deliverables.
• It organizes and defines the total scope of the project. .

• Each descending level represents an increasingly detailed definition of the

project work. The WBS is decomposed into work packages. The deliverable
orientation of the hierarchy includes both internal and external deliverables.”
3-Work Breakdown Structure(WBS)
• small part of The villa construction
project wbs is shown here .
• First, it breaks down the project into
bite-size components, making the
project less overwhelming and more
manageable. For example this
construction project major tasks are
MEP works which are then broken down
into smaller pieces which are electricity
and plumbing . The foundations are
followed by smaller elements like
excavation followed again by footings .
Rc works are broken onto slabs on
grade then followed by columns. Wbs
could be phase based ,As shown in
figure 3.1.
• Also, it provides a roadmap for the FIGURE 3.1
different individuals and teams working
on the project.
