2.0 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
As described by Adrian Robinson (2017), the development of prototype designs could
help optimize future design processes that are currently quite irregular. Robinson and Smith
(2011) also substantiated that pre-design and building design prototyping practices have a role
in improving construction by employing standardization.
Based on the study conducted by Josefina Santos de Asis (2012), Container Housing
is a feasible solution for Low-Cost Housing in the Philippines since it performs well as a
conventional Medium-Rise Housing unit. Asis focused on 4 categories in terms of
container house evaluation namely: (1) Engineering Details, (2) Thermal Comfort, (3)
Alteration Issues, and (4) Tentative construction Cost. However, the methodology of the study
was mostly done in terms of documentary analysis, recommending further studies to be
made particularly in gauging the actual performance of container units. Furthermore, Asis also
recommended the generation of actual or empirical data to better assess the performance in
terms of thermal comfort, structural integrity, and construction of a prototype unit.
According to Oloto and Adebayo (2011), the growth of the population in the urban
areas of Lagos resulted in an acute shortage of housing. The idea of using ISO shipping
containers to address the need for increased building output, quality, and speedy erection
of houses was examined. It has been found that for shipping containers to be viable as
construction materials for modular house units, Public-Private Partnership should be properly
executed, Building code regulations should be modified considering shipping containers as
building material, concerned government agencies and organizations should promote the
concept, and more case study descriptions about the concept should be conducted.

that is well-known by the owners. The contractor is bonded, licensed, and in good standing with
the state.
Source of Funds
Ecohive Homes are strategically positioned with an infusion of capital from a recent
inheritance of approximately $100,000 (5 million pesos), strategically allocated to fuel our startup
endeavors and address operational exigencies. Additionally, we are diversifying our investment
portfolio by earmarking some funds towards acquiring supplementary rental properties,
enhancing our revenue streams. The financial foundation is further fortified by the robust earnings
