b) A solid hemisphere is carved out of a solid block of marble, as shown.

After the hemisphere is removed , the volume of marble remaining is 2000 m3 .
Calculate the exact radius of the hemisphere correct to 2 significant figures. (3)

c) The line ax  by  3  0 is parallel to the line 3x  2 y  4  0 and passes through the

point (1, 2) . Find the values of a and b . (3)

d) Shade the region of intersection of the following:

y  x  1 and y  3 x  5 . (3)

e) In a certain two-digit number, twice the tens digit is equal to one less than five times
the units digit. If the digits are reversed and this number is subtracted from the
original number, the result is equal to 14 less than five times the sum of the digits.
Use simultaneous equations to find the number. (3)

f) A cylindrical tank with diameter of 120 cm and a height of 400 cm is open on top and
is filled with water to a height of 200 cm. A solid cone with diameter 60 cm and a
height of 100 cm is suspended, vertex up, above the water so that the base of the cone
just touches surface of the water . The cone is then lowered into the water until it is
just covered. How far has the cone been lowered? (3)
