P23 +Case+Study+when+peerlink+goes+down
Earlier we discussed the case when Keepalive goes down, we found that there was no impact to
VPC operation.
Now, it is time to shutdown L2 link i.e. Peer Link.
I am assuming that Peer-Keepalive link is UP and running when We Shutdown Peer-Link.
Port eth1/30 is part of Port channel 1 and being used for Peer-Link.
We will shut down this link
Also please do not forget to check the VPC Roles before shutting down this Peer-Link.
Though VPC uses both parent switches for sending and receiving data- but VPC Role plays
important role in this scenario.
Once Peer-Link goes down then VPC Secondary Switch Suspends the Member ports and stops
the VPC operation on VPC Secondary Role Switch.
The “DOWN” Information is passed using Keepalive Link.
So There is NO Impact to VPC operation i.e. to Traffic. However, Secondary VPC Switch
suspends the operation to Avoid Split-Brain Scenario.
