A consistent process of giving useful information on the targeted
materials in order to select and develop them in a credible and accurate manner is known as materials evaluation. Materials evaluation can start happening before use and be predictive, in which the teacher predicts the coursebook's success in a specific context with specific learners, or after use and be correct, in which the teacher attempts to analyze the coursebook's actual success on his or her learners, dividing it from other factors.
2. What is the purpose of materials evaluation?
The purpose of materials evaluation is to measuring the possible
effects of materials on students in relation to their goals. Also, it focuses on the needs of the materials' users and makes subjective judgments of their effects. Evaluating language teaching and learning materials is useful for successful language teaching because it helps us to be good teachers who actively assess what we need or want from materials, how they are used in practice, and to what impact. Evaluation is a process of studying a project, activity, action, or effort in order to identify how well it meets its goals. Evaluations assist assess what works effectively in a program or effort and what could be improved.
