ABSTRACT

This study was a mixed method experimental research design with an observation sheet

that serves as the instrument of the study. The purpose of this research was to know the

potentiality of banana stem fiber as an alternative in making eco paper bag. It sought to answer

the questions: 1.) How effective is banana stem fiber in making eco bags? 2.) Why eco bags

made from banana stem fiber are good for replacing plastic bags? 3.) What is the significant

difference between commercialized and eco bag made of banana stem fiber?
The researcher gathered the banana stem fiber and sliced them within the half an inch and

boiled it about an hour. When banana stem fiber turned brown, it is ready to be crushed in the

blender. The researchers made three tables and each table is consist of one trial in every eco

bags. The table 1 shows the amount carry by the eco bag. It shows that the weight limit of

1kilogram ensures that the eco bag remains sturdy and can securely hold your belongings just

like for the table 2 which can hold at least 1.5kilogram and 2.5kilogram for table 3.

After the data gathered and interpreted, the researchers proved that the banana stem fiber

can be alternative eco bag and is affordable than the commercial branded eco bag.
