Ex 1 (p.38):
1. What subjects are usually studied in high school?
There are math, biology, physics, chemical, history, geography, literature, computer
studies, foreign languages such as English… When studying both of them, it is quite
difficult, yet it’s exciting.
2. What are some typical after-school activities?
Some typical after-school activities: Our local library has a wide variety of after school
activities ranging from creating a podcast, to coding, creative writing, robot construction,
LEGO projects, conversational Spanish, creating graphic novels, drawing cartoons
(comic strips), watercolors, genealogy, architectural history, and the usual book clubs.

Ex 2 (p.38):
2. How do people normally learn to work in a car factory?
They get training, apply for work, and get hired. Any training beyond what they’ve
already acquired will be provided by the company as on the job training. They might
also recommend additional classes to promote advancement. If you just want a job,
that’s the way to go about it. But if you want a specific job, get advanced training and
education in your desired career.
What high school or college subjects would be useful for this job?
In the core subject areas, mathematics, including algebra and geometry, is useful for
reading blueprints and using computer programs that direct machine functions.
Chemistry is useful for workers who need to be familiar with the properties of metals.

Ex 6 (p.39):
2. What are the benefits of this type of school project?
This type of school project creat good chances for student to learn and experience. In
addtion, participating in those activities is a way to apply and practice what students
learn from subject. They find it applicable, so they will become more interested in the
subjects.
3. Should this kind of class be required or voluntary for students? Why?
This kind of class should be voluntary for students. Each student has different
circumstances and targets. Therefore, they has diffirent ways to achieve their goal. This
kind of class creat good chances for student to learn and experience. However, if it
become mandatory, it puts pressure on some students.

Ex 8 (p.43):
2. Do many people go to college in your country? Why or why not?
People primarily enroll in a college or university to achieve the necessary education and
degree they require to build a career. University degree nowadays is mandatory to apply
for a good job. To find better job opportunities after graduation and having a higher
salary are thus the main reasons many students get enrolled in a college or university.
Moreover, exposure to the social world is the main constraint for a student and the best
place to develop such skills is none other than Colleges. Colleges inculcate a social
behavior to the students and provide a wide range of facilities that allow an individual to
enhance skills. Some students join a college or university for social status and some
who join from family pressure may also get a good career guidance under the roof of
colleges by the experienced faculty who guides them how to develop their profile to
match the desired target.
3. What kinds of jobs are popular with recent college graduates in your country?
Being a teacher or a doctor used to be the most widely-chosen professions in Vietnam
but now there is a much wider range of trendy jobs people wish to pursue. Travel and
hospitality, fashion & lifestyle, media and IT are currently the most appealing and
desirable sectors for those seeking a career in service industries. Also, most people
now prefer to work as a freelancer or for themselves, I mean being self-employed.
They’d love to run their own business by selling items online, especially on social media
and many have achieved enormous success.
4. In your country, what jobs do people do if they don’t go to college?
Most of the people who didn’t go to university end up working in shops, supermarkets,
department stores, post offices, bars, restaurants…
Less common is industrial work. Some people work in factories, warehouses, as
cleaners, kitchen porters, waiters etc.
